Lately I have been getting into formalities more than my usual, casual interest. I want to attend a finishing school, they're called etiquette schools now. I believe that learning how to interact with others in a much better way is an indispensible gift. A gift that I want my daughters to have. I plan on enrolling them into a program as well. The younger one is JUST too young, but next year she will be able to. But, the older one will learn good posture, how to stand, proper sitting positions, how to walk gracefully, pivoting, and confidence in the first class. All of those add up to visual poise. She would then learn how to introduce herself to others, handshaking, the art of conversation, talking on the telephone, and smiling. Social Etiquette I. Then would come Skin, hair and hand care, keeping her room tidy (I wish ^_^'), organizing her closet, secrets of dressing, and nutrition-exercise. Style and Grooming. The fourth set would be how to properly set a table, use of each utensil, how to eat certain foods, and table manners. Social Etiquette II. Finally, there would be a mini-instructional tea party, how to write thank you notes, invitations and correspondence, being a gracious guest/hostess, courtesy in public places, and finally the graduation ceremony. Social Etiquette III.
It's a rather intensive program. ^_^ But I think it is MOST appropriate. With this program, she would get 10% off of an outfit from Dillard's, a $20.00 book, and numerous course supplies.
I'd be tempted to find one overseas. Such as one of the reknowned Swiss ones for myself. Them later, of course. ^_^
