The Journal of a Miss Chase
Libby
Libby could remember the bite of her mother's fingers in the tender flesh of her young arms and how the fear in her mother's voice had made her blood run so cold that not even her eyelids had the capability to block out the sight of her mother's tensed face. "Libby, please! Tell me who saw you!" She had not thought much about her actions at the time in question. Her mother had stressed time and time again to never show her talents to the other children at her preschool but Libby had not been able to control herself. An annoyingly confident boy nicknamed Robbie had claimed that he could jump off of the highest toy in the playground and not get hurt when he hit the ground. Whereas a feeble girl, such as Libby who had been reading quietly in the corner, would never be able to master such a feat. Libby had countered that she could in fact do anything that he could do and was set to prove it until she reached the top of the infamous slide, and remembered that she had an intense fear of heights. Robbie's laugh had stood out from the other children as they mocked her from where she cowered on the landing and being pushed further and further to the edge, she could have sworn that she heard her mind snap like a twig being broken beneath her foot. Much of the events after that were a blur. Children were running around screaming mindlessly and grabbing onto the teacher's legs and out of no where Libby's mother had scooped her up and made a dash for the car. Libby could recall how her body had bounced and slid awkwardly in her mother's arms, being just slightly too big to be carried in such a fashion, and as soon as her body had been strapped into the back seat, the two of them had taken off at speeds that were surely foreign to a stay-at-home mom.

What happened next haunted every waking moment of Libby's life. A large crash was heard at the door, and angry voices outside started to assert their rights to enter their quaint home. Taking her little hand in her long, beautiful fingers, Libby's mother had run into the guest bedroom and upon locking the door behind them, stuffed her daughter beneath the bed and crouched next to the door, pressing her back against it's wooden frame before even the men had broken down the first door. The wood splintered around her body and suddenly it seemed to explode and Libby watched as her mother fell forward screaming for mercy and for her daughter's safety as men in black uniforms pulled her out of the house, their bats being their main form of persuasion. A sob had choked out of Libby's throat and rolling out from beneath the bed she had ran after her mother with arms outstretched to save her from the bad men but more black arms scooped her up and clutched her tightly as she screamed pathetic wails for her mother as her one friend and ally in the world was forced into their backyard.

"She still hasn't spoken a word." Had it really been thirteen years? The people in the facility made pathetic attempts to make Libby feel like she was at home but if they had not succeeded yet, they were never going to. She was going to make sure of that. After all this time she was still unaware of the current condition of her mother or where she was. Libby had lacked the motivation to find out either for fear that she would not like the answer. After her mother had been pulled out of the house, Libby had been stuffed into a car for horrible criminals as seen on television and driven to somewhere far, far away. Her voice had eventually given out and from that day she had not spoken a word, for what the people knew. Any person who was not naturally born silent would go insane if left to only their own thoughts so when she was sure no one was around, Libby talked to herself to remind her of her past and good memories rather than the ones that had been forced on her in this hellhole. The people were trying to win her over to make her demonstrate her power so that they could document it. Perhaps show it to the world but Libby had read and seen enough to know that her mother was right to keep it a secret. Her life would end up like Claire Bennet's on Heroes or lonely like some of the heroines she read about in novels. It was rather sad to think that her views of the world revolved around television and books but it was all she had. The people at the facility were scared of her so she was always locked in her cell which was supplied with cable television, a laptop, and any amount of books she wanted. They even allowed her to decorate but they never let her out. Never hinted that there may be others like her in the facility that she could relate to. There was only Libby, her books, laptop, and television.

"Robert this is ridiculous. We can't keep waiting and hope that she finally gives in. At one point or another we are going to have to force her to do what she can do. For all we know, she may not even be special. Those tests of yours could be complete bullshit and he will eat our hearts on a silver platter for wasting his time and resources."
"Calm yourself...it's not like she is going anywhere. This place is a fortification for such things and we are currently investigating another special case that may be able to get her to talk."
The man to whom Robert was speaking to seemed doubtful but he simply turned away and walked out of the room. Robert seemed to have an unsettling confidence in his eyes and turning his eyes back to the monitor where Libby could be seen looking at her own wardrobe he smirked to himself.

((PM me to continue. I am going to leave it up to you to decide who your character will be and if you want to decide what Libby's power is to, go ahead. I left it vague for a reason. If you do not like this starter, choose another from my journal. I also have many RPCs on my photobucket and would love to hear from you!))
