This was in a book I was reading and thought I'd share because I really like this quote.
" When I was little, Anne used to talk to me all the time about love. she said sometimes it happened slowly, an investment of work and time over months and years. She said that kind of love was sort of like the stock market- that, little by little, you put all of yourself into it and hoped for the decent return."
Here's the other poem that I liked very much in the story:
" And if you come I will be silent.
Nor speak harsh words to you.
I will not ask you why, now.
Or how, or what you do.
We shall sit here, softly.
Beneath two different years.
And the rich earth between us.
shall drink our tears."
The book is called If you come softly by Jacqueline Woodson. The book discusses the issues of interracial high school couple and how everyone views them. (Keep in mind, this book was centered around the time of people getting over issues with blacks and whites).Very good book though.
