History: Raven Steps was born in Manehattan to a family who, in the large city, all but did not matter. Due to a genetic flaw his genes carried he had two extra nubs, which as a young colt, caused him to not be as easily accepted by most. He was growing up with nothing much to expect from him, his parents loved him, but didn't expect much to come from him, he didn't even get his cutie mark until long after what should be normal, he wasn't especially talented at anything. He had learned to shrug off most judgments, though he might trip them after hearing the comment. His younger, but slightly larger younger pegasus brother, Stepping Stone, had him in a shadow. Not to say he hated him, he was his best friend, he taught his younger brother everything and was very close, the main differences between them was that Stone was pretty good at anything he would attempt, quickly getting his cutie mark, and had gained confidence from it. Raven grew tired of not having a cutie mark, he hit the books. He wanted to see what he could get out of further learning in his magic. He found himself a pretty quick learner, a few quirks here and there, but he was hooked he wanted to know it all. He left home in search of more. The last thing he was working on was on making wings, he pierced his back trying to channel magic from them to make wings. After several months of tests and books, one test was finally successful. He had wings! He started to fly, a little too high for his own good, he checked his flank to see if anything was there, but nothing. In a small moment of distraction, his spell had broken and he plummeted to the forest under him. He hit his head on a tree and landed. He woke up a several hours later. He had little memory of his past.
He got up and looked around, he wondered why he had rings on his back, and where he was. He walked around the forest for a little while. He tried to remember details of his life. He remembered his name. He still had his personality. He had vague memories of a brother he loved. And he still had the strong yearning to learn. Learn what? He couldn't remember, but he wanted to know. He had worked his way to a hut in this forest, he eventually knocked from afar, and a zebra answered. She had shown him to Ponyville, where he worked a couple day at a farm there to make some bits. He thought while he worked, he had a desire to know. A little filly who lived at a farm told him he was a blank flank too! Vague memories cam to him on what that was, and he went on to decide that he would learn everpony else's. Maybe hearing their stories he could remember his own. He had asked the mare at the farm her cutie mark story, and she happily obliged. He went and bought a notebook and a pen, and wrote it down from memory. He was going to document any cutie mark he could. He left Ponyville not thinking to ask anypony their stories. After a few weeks, his life consisted of doing odd jobs, asking his employer their story, and maybe if he could find a place to sleep, and write down the story at night. One night he had realized he remembered every moment from the forest till the perfectly, he had a sharp memory, ironic, he thought. His story was mostly erased, so he'll fill the spaces with everypony else's, he'd be a book. Hehe, a book, he awoke the next morning to see his cutie mark. He'd start back at Ponyville, catch up with the stories he'd miss. "Let us see how this will turn out," he said. He just arrived at Ponyville.
Personality:
At first glance he is very quiet, and soft-spoken. A very awkward pony to meet. Passive aggressive, so he is not a total wimp, he will rarely resort to direct confrontation, relying on tricks like tripping and mimicking them behind their back. Once you get a closer look at him he is still the awkward pony to know, he starts to open up, being a sarcastically humorous and tending to forget his volume or language until noticing it. He's normally not a go-getter. Around the few ponies he is comfortable with he comes close to being rude, quiet the smart a**. He is polite to those he does not know. He's a nice pony at heart of course, the trickery is just his way. He is very articulate, which tends to fool some into thinking he will be very stern or serious. The opposite is almost true he can't take most things seriously, he is the forgiving type (after some payback.) He can be very curious at times, if he sees a cutie mark he is particularly interested in he will be inclined to ask, ignoring his slight fear of talking to new people. If he sees a creature that he does not know, he will follow and chase after it forgetting dangers and embarrassments he might fall into until it hits him. He can be polite to what sometimes would be a fault with pony he doesn't know well. He can be impatient in some situations and very patient in others. He hates explaining things in great detail other repeating himself. He doesn't enjoy dense people or ponies unless he is especially fond of them or their stories. He isn't too fond of arrogance and might tire of their stories sometimes, even when in a situation where he starts to be really impatient, he can almost never bring himself to interrupt or object, instead he might feel some negativity towards whatever caused him annoyance and would "retaliate" in his own little ways to make them pay for it. When it comes to things like food and stories he could wait a content century waiting for it.
Likes: (loves) Apples, Hearing cutie mark stories. Telling stories. Pranks.
Dislikes: Arrogance, dense ponies. (fears) meeting new ponies for the first time.
Abilities: Magic stuff. Yeah.
Pets: He doesn't think he can afford a pet... maybe if it lived off the air
