((The mail conversation between Al and Gert:
Mors Varius
A letter is swooped in by owl, over Gertrude's head; and it falls daintily to the ground.
When it's opened, there is a neat boyish handwriting, and the lingering smell of cake batter.
Gertrude,
I know this may seem sudden, but... I barely know you at all; and I'd personally like that to change.
I was wondering if you'd perhaps like to grab a cup of tea, and cake sometime with me? Prior to the ball, maybe?
Please let me know when you make your decision;
I look forward to your reply.

The Flying Duckman
A different owl glided in and dropped a letter right onto Al's head. The owl enjoyed a quick moment of freedom before heading back to the owlery.
The letter was in fact the one Al had sent with the word "Re" scribbled on the envelope and messy handwriting below Al's message giving the reply.
Yeah, might as well meet up some time. Maybe not for tea and cake though. That seems a little too.... date-y. Surely you weren't asking me out on a date, that'd be insane. Obviously you just want to know how I'm so manly. That's ok, you can admit it. I know I'm the manliness and some people are a little bit intimidated.
Anyway... maybe we could eat a hardy lunch of steak sandwiches together one day, because that's way manlier than what you suggested!

The first name written was written in lovely curly handwriting, but was scribbled out. Old habits die hard.
