Okay, so the roleplay takes place a couple hundred years in the future. energy weapons, space travel, the whole nine yards. Okay, so two colony ships travel to a planet with an almost identical atmosphere to that of earth. There, they discover a place called Ulu city. and it's in ruins. Ulu city(ye, a single city) is more than five the size of Germany. They start going through buildings looking for anything that can tell them what happened to the people in the city. They find a very large building, and manage to power on its main computer. They immediately start translating. They determine that the building they were in was a government building. After that, they found out what happened to the citizens.

To humans, it was over two hundred years ago. The people of the planet had the idea of creating a single city, that spread across the entire planet. A year into their work and they had accomplished more construction than anything the humans had ever done. But, because the couldn't have cared less about the environment, they just dumped the waste where ever they wanted. Before "The Incident" They had managed to develop technology more advanced than what the humans had. But, because they ignored the needs of the environment, the earth godess, Gaia, cast a curse on the earth they were building their great city upon. Soon, the waste chemicals began mixing and created a new form of life. This life form was like a gel. It was black, but it's insides were yellow. It was a parasite. It would take over almost any form of living organism, and completely control it. It also used electricity to reproduce and grow exponentially. The largest of them were called brood mothers. They were the ones that reproduced. When a being was taken over as a host, but only for a short time, after the thing left their bodies, they would rapidly mutate, physically, and mentally. This transformations were called cryptids.

After that, the humans found nothing else out. they assumed that these gel like creatures had wiped them all out. When the earth godess Gaia saw that new life had found its way to the planet, she sent them a warning. She appeared as a physical being and told them to leave, but they refused. So she "renewed" the curse. In the first four days their only route of escape, the colony ships, were destroyed. Then, left on the strange planet with what the managed to get off the ships and any technology that they could scavenge, they were forced to survive. Over time, the humans found a way to force the beings out of their human hosts. Fire. The beings were terrified of fire. But, they determined that it wasn't worth the risk. If the human had been a host before, but one of the beings(now called Ulans) had been forced out, or fled of free will, the human gained, special abilities. The ability to transform, control an element, pretty much anything you can think of. But their mental state of being was usually compromised.
