Detectives Locke and Parker had been at the wedding of Jessu and Janice; they’d known Jessu since he’d become the priest at the Holy Hand’s of God church and had become good friends with the now pastor.
“Hey Jessu, good lucky, I know my wife hates it when I’m out late, but that’s just an occupational hazard for me.” Said Locke.
“At least she is concerned about your health, Ander,” said Jessu.
“That’s not all she’s worried about,” quipped Parker.
The three friends had a laugh and continued chatting. The laughter and gossip of the crowd at the reception continued as a low droning murmur until a strange figure showed up. A long, ragged cloak shrouded the tall figure as it seemed to glide toward Jessu.
“Do you need all the theatrics Una?” Jessu asked.
“Una?” came a male voice.
“Stessi?” Jessu’s voice shook with horror filled surprise.
The cloaks hood swept back from the face of the stranger, revealing Jessu’s previous employer. “Congratulations on the happy marriage, I’m going to go extend the favor to the newly wed bride.”
As the crowds murmur began up again when the groom acknowledged the newcomer as friend Christian Parker turned to Jessu and asked, “how do you know the infamous Stessi?”
“Let’s just say I worked for him,” and as these words came from his mouth, not only did surprise cross his companions faces, but another newcomer appeared, this one much shorter and not cloaked. This new person only drew attention because of her crimson hair.
“And there is my current employer, Una”
“You work for her? The leader of the Anges de l’Enfer? But why?” asked Locke.
“Let’s just say I’m not what I seem.” Jessu said at almost a whisper as he made his way toward Una.
“What are you doing here?” he asked Una
“Calling upon you, the time is now to fulfill your contract with me.”
“and he’s just right over there”
And then they all heard a scream.
