Standing three and a half foot tall with earthy brown skin, long black hair kept in a single braid that hangs just below his waist with pointed ears and a short black beard hanging from his chin, Gerbo is a proud gnome. Once living in black mountains in a burrow that suits a gnome well, he now travels alone. Spending most of his life studying the art of powders and potions, arcane spells, the art of illusions and working for the better of the gnomes. He now finds himself without a burrow or place to call home. Adorned in a rust red cloak with brown baggy pants tied at the waist and a simple black tunic with wooden toggles. He carries a leather satchel with everything he needs to survive and various bottles filled with colored powders and liquids, a book and a small drawstring bag with the treasure of his homeland, which Gerbo holds tight too. Always seen with an oak stick and carrying a small knife attached to his belt Gerbo now wanders the land gaining knowledge and studying as much as he can. His travels and lonesome wandering will only end when he has found a solemn place to settle down and call home.
THE GNOMISH BOOK......Bound in faded black soft leather with a faded gold string holding it closed, this book is the last written artifact left of the foothill gnomes. The contents are parts of the gnome history and lore, spells and potions, and some gnome engineering. The book still survives due to the efforts of the last foothill gnome Gerbo. Seeing his home destroyed and his kinsmen all slayed he could only save the great book and the treasure of the foothill gnomes. Over his travels he has studied the contents of the book, added spells and potions, wrote about the final days in his village and recorded his travels so that when gnomes from other lands see the book they will know what happened and add the book to their knowledge.
TREASURE OF THE GNOMES....What is called the treasure of the gnomes are a set of six small marble sized crystals. They are of different colors-black, white, blue, red, pink, and orange. The gnomes say the crystals contain a powerful enchantment. Those who hold the crystals in their hand or wear them will gain an enchantment, but the enchantment varies from user to user. Gerbo sees no reason to use them so they are held close to him and he shows nobody.
Gerbo's skills, arcane magic, and knowledge
Having studied under the master mages of The Order of the Tome, Gerbo learned he way of the mage. Having studied from the different schools of magic Gerbo soon learned that he had a natural talent for the arts.
Despite his natural ability his formal training and studies were cut short due the goblin attack on his home that wiped all the foothill gnomes of the Black Mountains except for himself. Having the chance to master magic in one specialized school, such is the tradition, he bhad to find his own way of the mage.
Having utilized all the lessons and knowledge he had and using the the Gnomish Book he began to draw upon what he knew and enhance it and absorb many useful skills and spells from the book.
DON'T BE FOOLED HE MAY NOT HAVE MASTERED A PARTICULAR SCHOOL OF MAGIC BUT HE IS STILL A CUNNING MAGE IN HIS OWN RIGHT.
