So as i've been on the path of discovering more about my family background I stumbled upon some Maiko (Geisha in training) photos. I then for some reason started looking more into finding more photos on Google and found tons! I was simply amazed how beautiful and graceful these women are and suddenly an idea popped into my head form a comic.
I thought to myself wouldn't it be cool to see a samurai geisha and how graceful she would be as she kicked butt in Edo Japan!!! So i'm in the works of writing the story and then figuring out how the heck i'm going to get the story into CS4. I think it's gonna take some practice or i'm prob going to draw it by hand and scan the images into Illustrator till I get the hang of it.
So the story so far is set in Gion, Tokyo most well known Geisha District around mid 1600s. The main character is a Maiko and her mother is the Okami of the Okiya. Basically the Maiko was born into this secret world by accident but as the life of a geisha goes the father and what occurred never happened. So the Maiko is out with other geisha learning how to entertain at parties and when she arrives home later that night her dear mother, geisha, and servants are all found dead in the Okiya. Here is when she seeks revenge on the killer giving up her life and dream to become a great geisha. As she journeys within Japan she discovers more about herself and wants she really wants outta her life.
I thought it was a cool setting for a comic/manga but i'm still trying to come up with some clever names and i'm still thinking of a good title for it. I thought of one called White Chalk Lotus. And that came from listing to wayyyy to much Flying Lotus while looking at the geisha photos. It just seemed to fit. So more will evolve but it's still a work in progress.
