Darkness.
For some, it can engulf them. Consume everything, even their hearts.
I almost thought I was tested.
For what purpose? More so, which side did I choose?
A gem. A certain stone that was kept safe to repent the darkness. On the night that everyone from different sides and lives met, it went missing.
A wounded lover, an incorrected husband. A controlling lover, and a worthwhile husband.
Never to cross paths again is what they were for tolled.
Why fate brought them together...No, the darkness did.
The wounded lover strayed from her own incorrected that night, meeting the worthwhile husband. They, at one time, were two hearts stranded along the beach. They had only each other. Slowly, with each wave, did they grow apart. Light kept them together in ways. There was a path that night, making the appearance of the other inevitable.
Like how the sunsets everyday, memories of the past arose. Too awkward to follow or say, they dodged around as if the past was just dulled. The dodging didn't last long. Soon, they were at one another, side by side. The felt as if watching the sun rise again. Their hearts were lit once more with joy. That joy, though, couldn't last. It couldn't be.
They returned to their other, worried. The time apart left each wondering. Hours later, they ere once lead to the other. Something was different though. The worthwhile husband wasn't as worthwhile. Of the gentle man that was known, was more upfront and non caring. He was lusting of sorts. Lusting for touch, heat--- As if the darkness stole his heart. The wounded lover, gaining hope, was more than concerned. She was never the type to lie or cheat, yet, within his touches, she did not whisper for him to stop. She could close her eyes and see small fireflies scrambling everywhere, as if scared. The man bent down, breathing heavily. He whispered words into her ear.
She opened her eyes, to find herself in her bedroom. She was still clothed, yet no one was around. The hallways of the place they were at were bare, no noise, just silence. She wondered around, to find the ballroom area flowing with people of all sorts. A performance?
Along side, whispers from officials were told to pause this play. The wounded lover carefully listened, then vanished into the crowds. She made her way, seeing her incorrected, as well as the controlling lover and worthwhile husband. She sat rows back, the lights dimming. Mouths were cleared, and in awe. A woman, in a kimono type outfit, headed down the walkway. Gentle music played all through the room. Something was strange, more than just strange. The woman walking down the isle looked exactly like herself.
The crowd slightly applauded. The wounded lover could see the worthwhile husband almost out of the world. The light flickered slightly. She looked around, quickly, only noticing her and the worthwhile husband in the room. Even for the slight flicker, it was like a cut scene. He stood, and turned to face her. His eyes were black, and almost as if he wasn't ever there within himself. The lights came back, as if nothing happened. As if she was the only one...
She quickly maneuvered herself out into the hallway area, fearing for what she had seen. The talking of the people outside the ballroom died down slightly, as they all turned to face the wounded lover. Each of the other people took their own turn explaining to her about why she was brought here, why certain people were, and about the gem itself. They knew, yet no one else did? She was told this by an older man, who had a familiar face:
"Even though your heart chooses not to change, do not except the darkness into it".
The darkness.
Again, this came up. It was as if the darkness was taking everything. There was no if though. It slowly was.
A sudden yell telling the others to get others away from all doors and to block them was heard. Confusion spread, but the curiosity of the girl lead her to run towards the yell. Her feet paused as she reached the man who had yelled, or what was left. Dark streaks were rushed across the walls, and a blob like thing inside of a painting was pulling him in.
It was here. The darkness was right here. The changes in everything, the flash of awkwardness. The warnings were already here. They went unnoticed.
Her feet carried her, in fear of everyone else. Her warning to the others came to late. She reached the ballroom to find the darkness flowing out and taking what it could. She rushed down, looking for her incorrected husband. He was gone. Her eyes moved over to the worthwhile lover, the darkness almost moving with him as he stood. The controlling lover screamed as she was taken by the darkness around him. The room itself was a trap. The floors slowly became a watery substance of the darkness. The wounded lover ran to the worthwhile. She knew what had happened. Her heart faced with fear. She wasn't scared for herself though.
Why him? Why now? Why.... all of this to me?
The light. She held the light to his darkness.
She shook off her fear, and slowly moved towards him. Bits of the darkness grabbed at her, trying to drag her in. She kept moving until she was dragged to her knees infront of him. Her tears wouldn't stop. She was confused, but then, she remembered the words he had told her from earlier when they had shared the light for the other.Through the pain, she raised her voice and painfully screamed it out.
"To this day, I still hold my light for you! I may not wear it proudly, but my light is for you!"
The worthwhile husband suddenly dropped to the floor. Around them, the darkness grew ferociously. The wounded lover held him. He was almost waking from the darkness. A brief smile was shared before the darkness grabbed him once more. This time, it was taking him into it. She rushed to grab him, exchanging her words about not wanting to lose him.
"...Do not except the darkness..."
Was... he the darkness all along? No... Couldn't be.
She clenched on tighter to him, her arm being pulled by the darkness now. He smiled gently at her, apologizing that he wasn't there for her. At that moment, the darkness jerked, sending her onto the floor, and him into the darkness. At this point, through anger and sadness, she knew what she had to do.
" I won't except the darkness! I share his light, as he shares mine! I will find you... I promise this.. and the darkness will not consume me!"
She ran towards the darkness, the gem appearing in her hand as she leaped into the void.
He is my light...

This was a dream I had last night. I wrote this on paper when I woke up at 4 am.
Facing my darkness, and understanding my light... Changing without losing my own light.
Something new I must learn, I suppose.
