Little feet were heard as they ran down the steps Gasps of surprise and wonder with every breath The tree sparkled with lights, the first tree in years The house was warm, with the feelings of love Soon the sound of tearing paper filled the air As the children thanked and thanked for the gifts Young they may be, but they understood What a rare Christmas this was to be Their mother tried hard each year To give what they want And for once, she did succeed The tears trickled down her cheeks As her children sat around her giggling They smiled up at her and handed her a present Her eyes widened as she took it in hand The wrapping was slowly undone and inside the paper Was a beautiful wonder A bunch of drawings of her and her kids Drawn by her own little angels.
