Set futures are hard to come by when in high school, but they are found in some places. I have planned what I would like to do; Get my teaching degree and start teaching creative writing, newspaper, history, or band at a high school. Then I can focus on being a freelance writer/musician. I know doing certain things is stupid, like how am I supposed to write novels if I cut off my arms? Well duh I can’t.

But there are still things in this world that could really put a struggle on your future. Your friends, the people you look up to and set models for in life. The people who cry on your shoulder and lend their own. It’s hard to tell them no, especially in the face of something that looks fun and enticing.

Smoking, drinking, rolling, popping, flying, anything you want to call it. In simple, getting high mostly. Feeling "happy". Sure, it would be hella fun to smoke some pot and feel that low good feeling. But if you think about it, If someone who ever wanted to be a professional wind instrumentalist, a singer, or even a spokes person for their career, if they took even one inhale, they would permanently be damaged for life making it hard to breathe even in the littlest amount that can go a long way.

I’m not saying getting high and drunk isn’t fun for people, but you have to think about it. If you plan to have kids one day, but your addicted to a substance that is taking over your life, would you want your children to be addicted to the same harmful substance from the very second they're born?

Drugs and alcohol can damage relationships with family friends and other people in your life, but it can also severely damage your future. Are you willing to risk gaining less knowledge to become a lawyer, a doctor, a football player or anything?

Your friends are important, essential, but are they more important then your future?

Think about it.
