Fortunately there was a little pond on the outskirts of town where a small yellow duck lived. It was coincidence the first time. A young singer poured her heart out to the duck all in tears over her unrequited love. The next day the boy suddenly returned the singer's feelings. A hurriedly whispered conversation under blankets late that night resulted in two more confessions the next day. Shortly after that, well, two more happy couples.
Had this been an ordinary town perhaps that would have been the end of it. But this town was far from ordinary. It had been saturated with dreams and magic for many many years, and stories had a distinct tendency to take on a life of their own within the city walls. Slowly the story gained power with a couple here, a hopeful girl there. Before long it was well past the first chapter and unfurling it's own life.

Lately it seemed as if his favorite place by the pond was always occupied, and his favorite person -duck- monopolized by the girls that came down hopefully every day. At least, Fakir reminded himself, they were no longer swooning over him. A brooding writer seemed much less approachable then a powerful dancer. Still, he glared at the two giggling girls occuping his dock, he could do with less of the non-feathered company.
Spirit of the Lake; Confession spot- leads to story about girl- Girl is tragic-cursed to bring love but never recieve it? Fakir takes control to bring Ahiru back to humanity and confess at same time before story can set in stone or end? End with him dying perhaps?
