I just heard a new song today.
In three different versions.
The song is called
"Such Great Heights"
The three versions are;
(1) Slow, Melody type.
(2) Upbeat, quicker, but still containing a melody type.
(3) Screamo, quick-paced type.
All three are GREAT versions.
But the first one I heard was Iron and Wine's version.
That's number (1)
The second version I heard was the original - The Postal Service's version.
That is number (2)
And the third version I heard was Confide 's.
And that was number (3)
This song is very, very nice.
And I will not make complaints about any of the versions, because different versions means you can listen to the SAME song you love, in whatever emotional state you're in.
Say you're tired, or maybe really sad, listening to Iron and Wine's version would probably be best.
Or maybe you're cleaning and it's a slow process, and you want something more upbeat and pumping to get you going - The Postal Service's version would be greatest then.
But sometimes you're just in the mood to have the song screaming the lyrics into your mind, embedding it all in as you suck up the wonders. That's when Confide 's version comes in. :3
Here's the lyrics just for the Hell of posting them. They're awesome, anyway.
----
I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and
When we kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate
That God himself did make us into
Corresponding shapes like puzzles pieces
From the clay
True, it may seem like a stretch
But it's thoughts like this
That catch my troubled head
When you're away, when I am missing you to death
When you were out there on the road
For several weeks of shows
And when you scan the radio
I hope this song will guide you home
They will see us waving from such great heights
"Come down now," they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
"Come down now," but we'll stay
I've tried my best to leave
This all on your machine
But the persistent beat
Sounded thin upon listening
That frankly will not fly
You will hear the shrillest highs
And lowest lows with the windows down
When this is guiding you home
They will see us waving from such great heights
"Come down now," they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
"Come down now," but we'll stay...
