FE contest entry
It's a good thing that I'm a judge and therefore my fic doesn't have to strictly follow the contest rules, because it's getting closer and closer to being just like any other fic of mine. Yeah, so the main character, Kushina, is the villain - but I find that I'm always trying to justify her and make her actions seem reasonable.
(I guess I just don't believe that it's possible to be evil just because. There always has to be some sort of reason!)
The idea of her I had in my mind was of a cold planner. She'd be driven by her guts and her absolute desire to see Konoha pay for the destruction of Whirlpool, but from there, she'd also act like the perfect kunoichi: cool and steady. She'd stick to the pre-arranged plan, no matter what, and the "winging along the way" would be kept to a minimum.
Now that I finished planning the fic, though, it feels like she's improvising half of the time and almost letting her cover slip because of self-doubt for the other half. I wanted her to have a plan laid out even before she had gotten to Konoha - but I see now that that's not going to be possible.
In a way, I suppose that's good, because it makes her more like Naruto, who was supposed to have more of his mother's temper (have a cookie, subconscious me! ^^), but on the other, it also makes her less evil. She's becoming less of a villain and more of a poor misguided pawn in Tobi's hands.
Wait... maybe all I need to do is turn her into Tobi's equal... ohh... yes, that could work... plus, it would give her some extra motivation... yeah...
Thanks journal! Knew I could count on you, eheh.
(Now, if only there was a way to work in that ObiTobi theory...)
