I sighed. “Too bad Yuki’s still sleeping. He’ll miss out on breakfast!” I turned to Andrew. “Aaaaaaannnddrrrrreeeeeeeeeewwww, did you figure out the dragon yet?” He didn’t turn around to look at me. He kept eating spoonfuls of his breakfast, as if he were hypnotized to do so. This kept going on and on for a few moments or more. The more he ignored me, the more I kept saying his name.
He finally stood up and took his bowl to the kitchen, and left me to my breakfast. Both of us, unknowing of what’s happening outside of the front door.
A scream of a woman came to our ears through the little cracks in the walls. Andrew peered out from the kitchen door. “Why’d you scream?!”
I was a bit hesitant to answer, as the scream had knocked me out of my senses. As I recollected my senses, I said “Andrew? That wasn’t me screaming…”
His eyes widened and wiped his wet hands on his shirt. Leaving his bowl in the sink unwashed, he hurriedly snatched his sword and ran out the front door. Then he stopped, remembering that I was still in the room. “Hurry up. It looks like Artemis and his freaks are here.” I was confused. How can he tell so quickly? I quickly got my sword from the room and joined him outside. Suddenly, just as I made it out the door, I stopped. Bodies were being stacked everywhere. Women were screaming and trying to protect their young, while the men were fighting valiantly. All the noise and shouting made my ears ring which resulted in my head hurting. “Andrew, what’s happening?”
He didn’t answer and ran off before I can say any more. I chased after him. I had to. There were so many of Artemis’s minions, how could he take them all by himself? But he went off too quickly; I couldn’t find him. Instead I found myself in an ocean of minions. Their backs were turned. Just don’t make a sound, and you won’t be caught. Don’t make a sound, don’t make a sound. Just turn and walk away…. But they were backing up as well. Hadn’t Adam taught me how to jump up to a tree branch? I looked up. A roof. Not a branch, but that’ll do… for now.
“Adam? Why are we outside in the forest?” I asked out of curiosity.
He turned. “Today, you’ll be learning how to jump high altitudes. Now, this took Andrew quite a while to perfect, so I don’t expect you to get it on your first few tries.” He turned to face a tree. “I’ll show you how once, and then I’ll expect you to remember everything.” He went on explaining. I nearly dazed out and I didn’t even listen to Adam. I didn’t jump to a tree that day. Instead, Adam jumped on top of my back when I fell. But a black figure caught my eye. Something I’ve seen before….
So… what were his instructions? I glanced at the crowd gradually making their way to me. Hurry Yukari! Um… I remember him saying something about your pose? I tried to mimic him on the day that he taught the lesson. Kick back hard, and a straight figure. I did all that was in the instructions. A moment later, I found myself hanging off the edge of the rooftop. I grunted and after what seemed to be the longest minutes of my life, I made it to the top. Strength is not one of my fortes. Atop, I saw the cause of why the group was backing up: Andrew was threatening them.
