Chapter 8: Psicosis vs the Dragon.
Psicosis wiped the sweat off of his head. The blazing heat emitting out from the hardened volcanic ground below him. The allied resistance group had left Wyvern Mountain, and arrived at a village literally inside the gigantic volcano called Ember City. The people, who were just recently freed from the n00b army, were willing to welcome the resistance with welcome arms. But with one tiny stipulation.
Kill the giant dragon that was terrorizing the city.
The task wouldn't have been too much of a problem if its nest wasn't six miles away from the volcano, smack dab in the middle of area where the magma was literally 4-5 feet below the smoking hot ground. The only person capable of traveling across the plain was Psicosis, who had the ability of altering his clothing and armory with a rare, unknown form of magic, or some sort of alchemy, he never cared to explain what it really was. Of course, Psicosis refused to go, ranting about no man, or woman for that matter, would make him decide other wise.
Ironically enough, it was the crack of a annoyed Twilight's whip, that had Psicosis running faster than a frightened dog with its tail between its legs.
Psicosis sighed as he pulled himself up and over a large rock, so he could get a clear view of his surroundings. The villagers said that finding the nest wouldn't be hard, it was too large to miss. What the villagers so blissfully left out was that the combination of the blazing heat, and the black ground that ironical enough blended well with the nest, made it almost impossible to find easily.
"Not hard to find, my a**."
Psicosis sat still on the rock, letting all sorts of ideas and suggestions invade his thoughts. But not one of them were helpful when it came to the subject of finding the elusive nest. "I followed their directions perfectly. I should be there by now. It's almost as if that dragon's-"
Psicosis stopped in mid-sentence as he looked up. A powerful roar shook ground below him, and made the sky tremble slightly. A large shadow floated above him, the flap of its wings echoing in Psicosis' ears.
"- right above me..."
The shadow suddenly curled up, then shot down like a dart. Psicosis instinctively stood up and dove out of the way. He quickly rolled up and turned to the nest. The gigantic blood red and green dragon standing in front of the nest reared its head back and roared, the sheer force of it's voice shook the ground under Psicosis. "My... Somebody's been eating its vegies..."
The dragon began to flap its giant, war torn wings and took to the sky again. As it did so, it pulled his head back and began to flex its throat muscles before swinging its head forward, and releasing a power burst of putrid smelling, skin melting hot balls of air. Psicosis instinctively jumped out of the way and aimed one of his guns at the dragon and fired. The dragon in return lifted its right right and shifted to the side to avoid the bullets, before rearing its head back and firing its foul smelling air balls at him. Psicosis jumped back enough and aimed his right gun at the dragons head. The dragon also prepared for another strike as it slowly pulled its head back, and sucked in as much air as possible.
The dragon made the first shot as it pushed its head forward and released one gigantic ball of hot air. Psicosis waited for it to come close before he charged his gun and pulled the trigger. The white hot energy bullet shot out of Psicosis' gun with enough force push Psicosis to the ground. As the bullet collided with the ball of air, it pushed its way into the ball of air, before piercing right through it and piercing the dragon right through its throat.
The dragons body went limp seconds after the impact, and the only thing that kept up in the air was the slowly relaxing muscles in its wings. The wings finally gave in, and the dragon's slow glide down quickly became a dive. The sheer force of the dragon's impact into its nest made cracks into the rocks that surrounded it. Psicosis himself fell to the ground, the energy shots he fired, mixed with the intense heat took allot out of him.
"Next time Ryuu and Twilight want to please some villagers, they can do it them damn selfs!"
Psicosis pushed himself up, knowing that if he stayed there, he would have started to overheat, regardless of his armor's cooling system. He slowly climbed over one of the rocks and slid down, he prefer to just leave the spot and go somewhere cooler, but he needed proof that he slain the "Evil Dragon."
'I wonder what would make a red dragon so angry,' Psicosis thought 'normally, they're calm, and can co-exist with humans...' Psicosis looked at the dead dragon, sighing to himself as he knelt down and placed his hand on the side of the dragon's head. "For some reason... I still wish I knew why you were so hell bent on killing the villagers..."
Psicosis was about to pull off a scale as proof when the dragon's eye snapped open. Instinctively, Psicosis' first thought was to fire another energy round into the dragon's head, but he restrain himself. It was close to death already, it couldn't harm Psicosis even if it tried. The dragon's jagged yellow eye slowly shifted around, as if it was desperate to find something. Its eye finally stop, locked onto a far corner in its nest. Psicosis turned his head towards the direction, then looked back at the now dead beast. "I understand now..."
Hybird's Notes: Yeah... Not my best work. But I promiss my next chapter will be better. (I hope...)
