The Empty Page
Tears fall on the empty page
My thoughts wounding the heart
The bended wish unheard in the night
For soul-searching in the darkness black
What will I write?
I have nothing to fall back on
No wrong I care to cleanse.
The engraved yesterdays not anymore
Or modernism I care to represent.
My revolt in dying embers
Peaceful my mission, I awaken.
I need your help, more than I ever did
And you came to open the heart
For my restraining wonder I held back.
We meet halfway, me doing my part
and you listen to my dream
I care very much we compromise.
My tears fall on the empty page
And only the breeze of kindness
Will replace the smoldering wonder of a nation
The majority familiarize and approve.
Giving my people something to cling to
Apathy remove.
Tears will always fall on an empty page.
