ZERIE’S SHADOW
PROLOUGE Path ~ みちゆき
In this forest, trapped between the mountains and the desert, two phoenixes joined, watching over the harmonious world, and created two young firebirds. There was great hope for them to spread out, hoping one would watch over the waters, while the other would watch over the forests just as the pair watched over the mountains and the desert. The parent birds soon grew ill, and as they slowly fell, they prayed that the young ones would be immune to this disease, and so they left the children in the forest, retreating as far away as possible before they finally disappeared. The mountains grew colder with the retreat of the fire bird, and the desert grew dryer. It was once said that the phoenixes were immortal, and they would not die to a disease as they did. This was clearly not the work of nature. Soon, the people caught glimpses of a silvery blue dragon flying in the distance, back and forth from the mountain summits to the desert, but if anyone had followed the dragon to the desert where it was said to sleep, all they would find was sand. The dragon seemingly vanished. Back in the forest, the two children learned to take care of themselves, far away from civilization. The older phoenix was a boy, and his younger sister was still an infant when they were left. He took great care of the girl, just as a parent would. He did not understand why his parents left, but he would make do, for he felt those great ones did so for a reason. In his mind, he could still see his mother’s warm smile and feel his father’s caring touch. He knew they couldn’t hate him, and maybe one day they would return. So they decided not to leave the area which they were left. There was a great lake in the center of this lush forest. It was deep and constantly replenished with tasty fish given from the waterfall seventy hands tall. On the other end of the lake would flow a steady stream which eventually opened up and became a river. There were plenty of foliage and plenty of animals. There was a heard of heavy horses nearby, but they did not seem to bother each other. The only thing that had become a problem was language. The male could comprehend only bits of the sounds his parents use to make. He was not sure how to relay language to the female when she grew a bit older, but he was satisfied with whatever may happen. The male phoenix dedicated his life to raising the little one to live happily and maybe one day meet up with their parents.
Note to the reader: The term of the Phoenix is used as a metaphor. These are guardians and protectors with a firey spirit within. It is in no way meant to tell you there was really a bird made of fire present.
A Sketch of the land.
Snow melts from the mountains- building rivers and streams... The mountains cut off the sea air, on the other side of the forest is forced a desert of sand. However, humans are slowly moving into the territory [which is what the lights/blocks at the bottom represent]
