Yukari had gone to bed early without dinner. So did he. Once he was sure that she had fallen asleep, Andrew crept into the living room and walked to the table where all of the findings were still in their place. He picked the dragon up so gently as he did that Christmas night. He sat on the twig-woven couch and examined the dragon. Peering in closer, he found a little white spot shaped like a square. He remembered seeing the exact same thing when he had placed a piece of folded parchment in the mouth. Could Master have sent us a note? Why be so secretive? He took a long pause to wonder who Master could’ve sent this to. What was that girl’s last name again…? Hannah? Hanatabe? Harutake?... Hanabata!
He whispered her name ever so softly as if he were crowded by strangers and they would hear the name. Nothing happened. He whispered again, but no success. He thought for a moment again, and leaned over to whisper to the dragon. “Andrew Evans.” The dragon opened its mouth with the sound of a popping bubble. In a few second’s time, the message was revealed. Andrew unfolded it with hesitation. It read:
Andrew Evans
Yukari found this, didn’t she? I knew that she wouldn’t want to search anywhere else besides the house, although I wasn’t really expecting the bear.
It’s been quite a while ever since we’ve really spoken to each other, but I fear that we may not be able to do it again. You see, if you’ve managed to find and read this, that means Artemis has already taken me captive. Tell the Queen. Don’t tell Yukari though – I won’t want her to be frightened over this.
I’m surprised that you would still remember how the dragon works. I’m sorry I couldn’t find time to spend with you. I really did try to cherish those Christmases and travels. I also think that you’ve already noticed this: I haven’t been laughing lately. Artemis has given me more weight to balance on my shoulder for so long. I want to be able to tell you this – at least in this letter – you have been the greatest impact on me than anyone else.
Remember to tell the Queen. Tell her your plan. If Yukari asks anything concerned with me, ignore her. Keep her training on a daily basis.
With love,
Adam
Andrew stared at the letter and reread every little word several times. “I knew she wouldn’t search anywhere else.” Could it be that Master already knew that this was going to happen? That he would disappear and we would search for him? “Tell the Queen about your plan. Don’t tell Yukari.” Don’t tell Yukari. How could he not tell her? The way she presses in on the question, the way she nags. “I’ll try my best. I’ll try.”

“Aaaaaaannnddrrrrreeeeeeeeeewwww,” I said as I stretched his name. He was lying upon the couch, clutching a note to his chest. He awoke, his eye lids fluttering rapidly as he gained consciousness. It took a moment for him to recall everything before he sat up. My eyes glanced down at the piece of parchment. “What’s that?” I asked pointing at it.
He rolled it up and ignored me, and dragged himself to the kitchen to fix himself a snack.

“All is going well, I presume?” he said in a cold voice.
The minion hesitated for a moment, and replied “Yes, all is going well, my Lord.”
“Is Adam, still in his little cage, perhaps pleading for mercy?”
Again the minion hesitated. “Occasionally pleading, if that pleases you my Lord.”
“And my final question…”
“Yes, my Lord?”
“Have you dispatched my troops yet?”
