Dear Kiera,
I found out where your house is so I decided to write. Anyways, how have you been? I’ve missed you so much, I still do on account that this is only a letter. Is that money helping? I hope so. My dad has been telling me that I need to that I need to start working on preparations for the coronation in a few months. It’s so boring, you couldn’t imagine.
I heard it was your birthday today (I may have looked in the city records…), happy birthday! I would have sent you a present but nothing would fit in the hawks canister. They don’t let mail-men mail letters in or out of the palace, even for the prince. Birthdays are great, you’re one year older, one year wiser and the whole day is all about you.
Geez I can’t believe it’s been a year since we were traveling to Tybard. So much has changed since then, at least for me it has, responsibilities as prince doubled. I’d love to hear how you’ve been, maybe Johan too. Wow I’m bad at writing letters, even after a year I can’t think of anything else to say. Anyways, please write back soon!
Sincerely, Prince Saeran

Dear Saeran,
I can’t believe you’d actually write to me! (and looked up where I live.) You have no idea how much I’ve missed you, I’ve been on the verge of suicide a few times! What was just a job turned into so much more. Your letter wasn’t bad, that’s about what I expect in any letter. The money is helping a lot, thank you, although I was only expecting 10,000 gold. I’ve been living off of that money and not committing any crimes, making a better reputation for ourselves. We’ve been helping people around town, too. Turns out, if you help someone out and you’re nice about it, they give you something in return. I’m not sure anyone will hire us yet, they’re still understandably hesitant.
Birthdays aren’t really that exciting around here. Johan bought me a scone, it was pretty tasty, but nothing like you must have at the palace. You probably get a huge feast with cakes and whatnot.
You’re right, it really has been a year. It feels like yesterday that I accepted that job offer. But now I’m eighteen and I could move out if I wanted to. But I would need a job and money to get a house of my own. I like living with Johan though, it makes it less lonely. By the way, he’s promised never to kill or steal anymore as well. Johan is doing fine, I honestly didn’t think you would care at all though. I am really glad you wrote.
Love, Kiera

Dear Kiera,
I’m glad I wrote, too. I don’t know what I would have done if you had killed yourself. You did way more than just protect and escort me, so I asked them to bump up the reward a little. I’m really glad the money is helping. It’s great that you are making a new reputation for yourselves, it should really help you guys out. You’ll probably also make more friends, although if you still have enemies you should keep your guard up.
Birthdays were like that, but now I think I want them to be a bit more humble, My coronation is still going to be big but that is one of the things I’ll change as king. Thankfully I have it all planned out and the invitations were sent. Actually that’s sort of what this is, an invitation (I guess Johan can come, as well). I would be overjoyed if you came. The coronation is May, 6th, you can come at any time. I would have sent you the same invitation as everyone else but I wanted to personalize it a little. These letters keep getting shorter and shorter. I sincerely hope that you decide to come.
With love, Prince Saeran
