i lie in bed awake
thinking of the past
thinking about life
and how it cannot last
i try to fall asleep
and remembering love then
how soft and sweet it was
how i wish to see it again
where has my life gone?
what direction shall i take?
i can make it through
i will never break
break the habit that i'm in
letting no one through
showing my real feelings
as soft as morning dew
i try to fall asleep again
but thoughts mess with my mind
i'm trying to be nice again
trying to be kind
but kindness does not come easily
at least it's not for me
