My extremely crazy life...now on paper!
Why life is a rollercoaster...
I'm feeling rather... indifferent today. I can't decide wether today was a good day or a bad one.
Well, it's spirit week at my school, so we had this whole school-wide game type thing called Mr. and Mrs. Irresistible. Naturally, I lost. Basically, the game is everyone gets a heart made out of construction paper in first hour, which I don't even get why they wasted all of this paper on EARTH-FRICKIN'-DAY!!!, and they have to win hearts from others by performing random acts of kindness. I declined any hearts offered to me; I don't think you should do nice things just so that you can win a game and have your name announced at the end of the day. You should do nice things for other people so that they feel good. Like me, I always provide entertainment when people are not feeling too great... more or less.
But anyway, I gave my heart away, to someone whose name will not be disclosed, and whenever I told someone that I gave it away, they automatically assumed that I gave it to my friend John! I mean, yeah, we hang out, and we always talk and hug and everything, but that doesn't mean that I like him enough to give him a stupid heart that I wanted to give to someone... special.
But anyways, besides that, school was okay. I got 100% on my vocabulary test, but I retain words well. It seems that I'm better at writing than anything else; I have a 99% in English 2 honors, even though I didn't even turn in all of the work that my teacher gave us. I don't know how that works out; maybe she just hasn't put in the grades yet...
I bet it looks like I just discovered the semicolon right about now, huh? Well, I haven't, and there's probably a few more semicolons to come, so sit tight.
In my AP Human Geography class, we worked on this project that my teacher gave us. Basically, we are studying market areas of cities and services, and we have to create an NFL team and place it in a city based on the market area and population and a bunch of other factors that would just either bore or confuse you. And, of course, there is the standard logo that we have to draw, and come up with a team name and stuff. It's basically Fantasy Football, but for a grade. And we can't have Elija Manning on our team. I know nothing about American football, or pretty much any sport for that matter. I know what a touchdown is. That's the extent of my football knowledge. To me, football is defined as a group of big, burly guys who would otherwise never wear clothes that tight that run arouns smashing into each other and trying to get a ball, that, by the way is not even ROUND!, across a line that is painted on fake grass called AstroTurf. Can someone with at least a shred of football expertise explain this game to me in small words so that I don't misunderstand and look dumb at the next Superbowl party?!
But enough about football already. Until I get clarification as to WHY big guys are wearing skinny jeans with knee socks, let's talk about chorous class.
Ah, the bane of my existence. Chorous class eats away at my very soul, and not because I can't sing. I have, if I may, an excellent voice, which I have been complimented on several times. But chorous class is just a soul-sucking course for the people that can't get into Algebra 2 in the ninth grade, and trust me, I should know! My teacher is a tyrranical leader that rules with an iron... baton?! Actually, Ms. Johnson-Bynes has no baton, but if she did, imagine the havoc she could have wrought in my time there... *shudders*
But enough of that, too. On to math class!
Algebra 2 is right after lunch, so it takes us a while to settle down. The good thing about that class is that the people in my class are rather well-behaved; we're all kind of too smart for the dumb people that cause all the trouble because they have nothing better to do. But we had a test on one of the hardest sections in the book, and I'm unsure of how I did. I'm smart, but some of the other people make me feel so stupid. Then again, half of them are eleventh-graders that are on-level with their math credits, unlike me, who took Algebra 1 in middle school and Geometry in the first half of the year... stupid smart people... *wags finger accusingly at self*
But we finished up the test (that we actually started yesterday, but my teacher gave us time to finish up today) and I got through about six problems from the book before the bell rang. That was about it for math class.
One great thing about today, though, was that all of my friends are so cool. They're like that every day, and I hope they always are. Lizeth, so innocent-looking, but actually witty and smart, always cracks jokes right back at me. Woods (yes, that's his real name) is always zoned out, and therefore it's funny when he snaps back out of a daydream and asks, "Huh?" because he heard us mention his name in Lizeth's and mine conversation. Chris is forever dancing to a loud song in Spanish, blasted through his headphones as we walk together with Woods and Lizeth to their Biology class, and me to chorous. Flippy (uriekoinu) and Jenn (BadCrush911) are just too cute; Flippy is always a laugh, and Jenn is just adorable, because she's so small, but can use a big-girl voice. James... well, he's just big, but really funny, even though he will never show me his English accent. And John... well, I won't go into detail on him, but I'll say this: without him, the world would be a much duller place, for me at least.
Basically, my friends, few as they are, are all so great, and those are just a few of the really awesome people at my school. The ones who are mentioned in this entry are some of the coolest, most amazing people I have ever known, and I just wanted to hilight them here. Maybe next time I'll be able to write about more people, but until then...
Save the World, and Happy Earth Day!
~Max
PS. You know those plastic rings to hold together those six packs of sodas? Yeah, CUT THE RINGS UP! Just snip them so that a bird can't get its neck stuck in one of the rings.
See, I'm saving the planet, one Great Egret at a time...
