A friend of mine recently found someone she really likes, and he really likes her. Last night, or rather, this morning, she told me that she had a really weird dream.
In the dream, a boy and two boymans (her terminology, not mine) kissed her on her left cheek. Now yesterday afternoon, she had kissed the boy she liked on the cheek twice, and he had kissed her on the left cheek once.
She told me that she only remembered two of the guys-the boy, and one of the boymans. One of them, the boy, is a year younger than we are, and much taller and shyer than she is.
The other one, the boyman, was, is, a member of her section in the band. Now, this boy's girlfriend broke up with him a few weeks ago, maybe a month and a half, two months.
By now you're probably wondering "what does this have to do with the title?" Well, I'll tell you. She is always wandering around her neighborhood, just walking around looking at people, cars, and that boy in one of her classes that she thinks is cute. (no, she is not stalking him, he lives a few streets over from her house)
The shadows grow, fade, then grow until the entire city is cloaked in shadows. My friend wanders through the shadows, watching beneath half-lidded eyes as she walks.
So in the shadow of the day, she walks around, thinking, wondering, dreaming. I always find it interesting, because she comes back, telling me all that she saw, thought, or dreamed.
She's very strange, so it's rather enjoyable to hear what she comes up with. So my advice to you-walk along in the shadow of the day-see, think, and dream,

Tell Sam that he's dead, it's not a lie, it's true-
that we'll never again be friends, never again be true blue.

Tell Gina to hug, tell Forrest not to cry-
