I turned quickly once I saw a person standing there. They were large and imposing and I stumbled backward a bit. My eyes adjusted and I saw that it was Jasper, but something was very very malicious and wrong about his face. I stuttered, "Jas--Jasper?"
He lunged at me and I shrieked, his voice coming low and evilly twisted, "Sakir... you are miinneee." He hissed and lunged again, his fangs narrowly missing my arm. I tried talking to him but he silenced me with loud snarls and I shouted out, hoping Aleyn would hear, "PLEASE! HELP!"
As I vaulted and sprinted and wove stealthily through Jasper's campsite he was always following and gaining ground. I was running out of breath and he pinned me to the ground just as Aleyn burst through the brush, "What? What is it?!" Jasper cackled hideously and lunged for me I turned to the side and tried to break free but I couldn't I shouted meagerly, "Aleyn! please.."
I couldn't understand the smirk plastered onto his face and I struggled fiercely against Jasper's icy grip. Aleyn laughed mercilessly, "All is well, you are not one of us, you should not fight for us. You are a traitor."
I shook my head vigorously and managed to break free from Jasper, tears streaming down my face, "I am no traitor Aleyn!" I nailed him in the face quicker than he could blink and morphed into a gigantic white wolf, sprinting away with Jasper quick in toe.
I pleaded with Jasper in my wolf form until I could barely speak, but he would not listen. Suddenly, he vaulted into the air and landed on my back, ripping into my back with his hands. I yelped and fell down hideously in the grass, blood streaming from my wound. I was incapacitated completely, my spine injured. Instead of finishing me off Jasper crouched down by my muzzle and growled, "I never loved you, you disgusting b*****d wolf. Making love to you was like eating manure. All I've ever wanted was your blood, so sticky sweet. Don't you see Sakir? You're not the chosen one, you're just my next meal. You hear voices inside your head and your friend has left you. What good are you to this earth?"
As he was speaking, I was desperately trying to ignore him, his words sliced into my soul making my insides bleed a river of loneliness to my heart. I looked at the brightening sky when he was finished speaking, knowing this was the end, hoping it wouldn't hurt too terribly. But after all this was a selfish wish for someone as lowly as I.
A startled voice met my ears, a paused Jasper, leaning over my back. He looked up, and instead of solid black, dark cool blue met my eyes. My loss of blood was frightening and I felt my eyes start to roll back into my head. I morphed back, the full amount of pain apparent. I was healing faster than any human ever could heal, but it was still far to slow. My back was searing and I could barely hold consciousness. Jasper leapt over my body and cradled my face, his face reddened with lines of blood from his eyes, his voice almost screaming with bitter anguish "What have I done?! Oh, what have I done?!"
My vision went red, then black as my eyes ceased to stay open and my brain ceased to function without blood. I took one last sigh and faded away.
--------
My heart thudded and my eyes flew open, I sat up so fast I could hear the scab on my back rip, "WHAT?!" I gasped for air and looked around wildly, my hair splaying out. One question lingered on my lips, as I swung from side to side, looking, and then getting up "Who... who... who.. who did... this?"
I was laying in the grass a few yards away from where I had fallen, but no one was around. I stumbled around the surrounding area and felt my back ooze slightly as the scab tried to heal over itself. I sat down after weakly surveying the area in a dour mood. If someone was going to bring me back to life, they could have at least stayed around.
My thoughts drifted to Jasper and I sighed, my heart's wound aching as it had been ripped anew. I fell back with a sigh, and curled up. I heard someone walking purposefully towards me as small leaves cracked but I didn't bother to look, I was in sulk mood. A cool hand rested on my shoulder and turned me onto my back. I opened my eyes to see, not Jasper, but Darius standing over me. I must have had either a disgusted or morbidly curious look on my face because he answered quite coldly, "That's not how you look at someone who saved you."
I stuttered, "I-- I'm-- I'm sorry..." I didn't know what to say as he then flipped me over and dressed my bandages. I came back to my senses slightly, "What are you doing here? Aren't you stationed quite a ways from here?"
He nodded and then looked up, "Yes, but me and Jasper have ways of contacting over a distance." I was even more curious, "How?" He shook his head, "You don't need to know."
I pouted and then wondered, "How did I stay alive when you were traveling here?"
He looked to the side to grab some plants and mash them together, "Cecily was still alive." I breathed, "Oh...... you're... rather.. good at mixing herbs?" He raised an eyebrow and then shoved a spoonful into my mouth, "I do what I must."
I pressed the spoon to my lips and murmured something incomprehensible. My eyes went wide as I felt a dozy effect drift over me. He did a quick, and awkward smile, "Rest, you will need strength when I wake you up next."
My eyes drifted down of their own accord and I wanted to protest but couldn't because my mouth was slack and unmoving. Fine then, to sleep I go..... ornery vampire.
