crying my pc got 26 viruses on it a while back coz i refused to download this spyware program.
basically the spyware box popped up saying i should register with them to protect myself from viruses and hackers. and i clicked on 'ok' to register but it then took me to some web address to purchase some mega expensive stuff. obviously i refused to pay £84 for 1 years protection. (you can get cheaper protection for 3 years with other stuff!)
then every so often my pc would say i have a strong virus risk and should purchase spyware immediately, again i refused. so then it decided to scan my pc for free. i thought there was no harm in that so i let it do its job. after 6 hours of non stop scanning (it went and scanned over 11,000 files) i was told that i had 26 viruses on my pc and should erase them asap.
there was a key on the spyware with the option 'remove threats' and i clicked it. it then said enter registration code but i didnt have it. so i surfed the web searching for 'free antivirus downloads' and it came up with a wide range of usefull stuff.
as i was downloading, spyware kept popping up saying the usual "get me coz i will help protect ur pc!!" i just carried on thinking pffft get stuffed. then around 30 mins later i was told that the download was complete and that i should now scan all files/folders to check for viruses. and i did
then it told me that no viruses were found but spyware still said 26 viruses were on my pc.
i never downloaded spyware. it was there when i got bt homehub wireless internet stuff..... (im no it wiz so mum did all the setting up stuff)
then when i tried to go on the internet, spyware blocked it saying that it was too much a risk to use the internet, and i am currently unable to access the web on my pc.
but here i am using my dads work laptop in secret to tell the world my dilemma.
(wow this time there has been no silly comments/remarks. just plain old serious text....... i must be seriously pissed off with the internet and spyware......)
bye!
(oh and mum will fix my pc this weekend)
i hope........
