ALL SOULS 2007 (LE): (Company says: A day of remembrance and intercession. Without the prayers and sacrifices of their families and loved ones, the faithful departed may not be cleansed of their venal sins, and thereby cannot attain beatific vision. On November 2nd, prayers are sung and offerings are made to aid lost souls in transcending purgatory. An incense blend that invokes the higher qualities of mercy and compassion, mingled with the soft, sugared currant scent of offertory soul cakes.)
In the bottle, very foody. They aren't kidding about the cakes. The incense adds something exotic to the sweetness of the offerings. This is lighter than I expected. Wet, the incense is much stronger, pushing the cake scent aside. It captures a lot of what I like about Dia De Les Muertos. This scent is more spiritual, lighter, but strangely comforting. Dry, the food scent fades almost into non-existence, leaving an airy resin scent with the faintest sweet edge. i am wondering if there isn't amber in this, since it smells rather like it.
