Interesting huh? The avi I have is acctually a character in the series. And believe it or not his weapon is a staff. The other characters give him crap about it. But the avi doesn't look like the character.

Torren is a different version of the Cal/Zakuren character. See Cal had Zakuren to begin with. Torren on the other hand had the blood of an alien forced into his system. Zakuren's idea was to create an ally in the third book, and later use him like Lorex used the alien.

The problem is that the alien had been fused together with another race. (Explained in the fourth book) When the blood reaches Torren's brain it already takes over durring a fight.

In the three year difference between book three and book four the reader learns that Torren is forced to switch minds when he needs rest, or something along the lines of that.

Between the two Torren is the better one and mostly under control of the body. His other half though does other things explained in tommorrows entry.

Because of the blood in Torren's system he's now able to wield the elements as a weapon. When all the elements are there (fire, water, earth, lightning, and air) he can protect himself by making an elemental barrier. The drawing looks great. The catch is the dark half has to be in control of the body since he is the one who originally has the power.

In the third book Torren was introduced when Brad and the other members of the resistance were captured by U.S. soldiers in Seattle. In this prison camp this character is introduced as the abused silent type, people attacked him for no reason and he didn't say or do anything to protect himself. As a matter in fact the only time he attacks back was durring his Grudge match (fight where the opponent has to be dead to win) where he faced a mass murderer who ends up joining Zakuren later. Durring his fight Zakuren attacks the camp and reaches Torren in the field. When the blood gets put in his mouth the body right away absorbs it and goes right into the blood stream. A few moments later the character became more powerful and destructive then ever.

In the fourth book Torren goes a bit insaine, not crazy insaine, more like I've grown to deal with it insaine and doesn't seemed bothered to much when the other half talks to him. He's delt with all the trouble that the other half has done when he wasn't in control and tries to make up for it by helping people out. But not all is forgotten when innocent blood is spilled.
