Anya sighed softly and lent on his shoulder, "I'm sure this one will be different, after all... I set it up." She smiled as they walked to the grand staircase, and a man dressed as a royal knight announced them, "Lord Demetri, and Lady Anya of Scarlet Manor have arrived." He was pretending to read off of an old time scroll. "This will be a party to remember, Demetri... I've got something special planned." Anya whispered into his ear smiling before brushing her lips across his cheek lightly, in a kiss. Demetri and she were the only two who looked out of place, everyone else looked as if they'd stepped out of one Gothic novel or another, some old time costumes were mixed in from the days of Lords and Ladies.
Every man had a mask of black and white on; weather it was a simple mask given to them at the door, or part of an elaborate costume it didn't matter. Every woman in the room held a fan of black and red, either it was given to them at the door or they had bought their prop from an antique store; either way each fan had it's own unique design. Anya paused as they reached the first step, and a servant walked up with a silver platter, holding an elaborate mask of red and black for Demetri to set him apart from the rest, and a lovely black and white fan for Anya to set her apart from the other women. Anya smiled lightly at the servant boy. She took the fan from the platter, then gave Demetri his mask in one fluid movement.
She glanced over at Demetri's unreadable face before starting to descende the stairs with him, "Welcome, one and all... To our first annual Halloween Ball! Keep close to your lovers, and friends..." she smiled showing her fangs, "Because without them, you'll get picked off one by one..." her voice was slowly making a transition from her English accent to her Russian accent scoring a nice reaction from the audience. "There's a killer lose in the house, and our killer has a thirst for blood!" Anya smiled as lightning ripped across the window behind her and the thunder that followed boomed in the house, "Be careful, and have a-" She was cut off as planned by a piercing scream that echoed off the walls. A second later, a body dropped from high above in the now opened rafters, and jerked to a stop half-way down to the floor because the figure was attached to a rope. Anya felt like laughing as she saw this, but they'd all think her mad if she did so she resolved only to smirk holding it in.
"Oh my, it looks like our killer likes to theatrically kill their victims too... Ladies and Gents, We've got a murder mystery on our hands." She said loudly enough for all to heard as the body finally came to a halt when the rope was pulled taut by the dead weight hanging there. You could now see that it was a woman, she wore a dress of scarlet and her hair was black as a starless night sky, her skin pale as porcelain. If Demetri took a better look, he'd realize... It was one of their many rarely seen immortal friends hanging there.
"One of our guests have been brutally murdered!" Anya shouted as if upset, there were shadows stalking up in the rafters of the dome ceiling as she spoke. Below the hanging woman people were gasping and whispering to one another. The only thing on the invitations Anya sent out, was telling the party goers to wear costumes and masks for a masquerade party. There was nothing on the invitation about it being a murder mystery. Anya had picked the perfect night for a Halloween party, it was nice and stormy, a second after Anya had finished speaking... A man burst in through the giant double doors to their Manor, "I'm here to find the one who murdered my Anette!" he shouted, "I am Delphe, private detective extraordinaire! I'll ask you all to help me catch the killer hiding among us of course, but please be aware that the killer is still lose, he or she may just catch you!"
Anya smiled, "Welcome Delphe, it's been ages my friend! What's our first clue?" she inquired
