Peter Pan Musical ending
Well I haven't added a journal entry in ages and I felt like doing it, so this is the last weekend before Peter Pan musical is done and all our shows have been sold out. It's got to the point where people are scalping them on ebay and craig's list or what ever that site is called. I can't wait until the show's over really. We only have three more shows and then we demolish the sets and have the cast party. Everybody's slightly sad that it's all over and yet also relieved that we did such a great job and had this experience. The other directors were wonderful to deal with and they helped me out a lot, since well this was my first show. Hopefully I get hired for the next one cause I love dealing with the cast and crew here. It's not at all like high school musicals because people put themselves entirely into it and they don't schedule their musical work around other things in their life, because it is what they want to do rather than one of the things they like to do. We make friends and learn to rely on others to do the job right and get things done in time and the most fun occurs backstage. The audience doesn't know half the fun we have or even half the obstacles we go through... for instance one night we crashed one set into another after the second act and the ship broke and marooner's rock had a huge hole in it. Everybody brought out tools from the shop and in ten minutes we had the ship torn apart, reinforced, and nailed back into place, the stage swept, tools away, and stage set before the act started. Marooner's rock was fixed by the next show and looked better then ever. None of the audience knew there was a problem back stage during intermission. I love the crazy hectic life of JCC theater and I can't wait until the next show begins.
