MRE, as some of you I hope know, stands for Meal Ready to Eat. I have eaten one of these so-called "Meals Ready to Eat'. I did not like it. It was terribly horrid, and the chilie was way too spicey. The crackers (which taste like cardboard) and the Kool-Aid (Which, amazingly enough, tasted like Cherry Kool-Aid) were the best tasting things in it. Its sad, really. Oh, And the crumbly cookies. I really liked those.
Bottom line--MRE's are good, but only in a pinch. xp
