Must we result to using straws as swords and cup lids as shields? Have we not proven ourselves noble and true through desserts such as strawberry shortcakes, strawberry jell-o, and strawberry delights of all sorts? Must we continually be burdened and unjustified day in and day out through our oppressive co-fruit, the banana? The time has come, I tell you Sir, the time has come to protest against the title ‘Strawberry-banana smoothie’ to its rightful label- ‘Strawberry Smoothie.’
My fruity flesh is red with fury every time a customer shies away from purchasing a smoothie because of the banana’s shameless overpowering sense to the taste buds. Our pride has been sliced; our dignity has been eaten; and most of all, our natural flavor has been blended. We must cut the banana from our respectable vines and use our divine rights of savory juices to protect our strawberry core.
They, the bananas, tell us that we are rotten and under ripe. They point their yellow stems at us accusingly, and say that we are only in season a short time of the year. Yes, our growing season is short and our personage is short, but by God, we are found in stores year-round. Don’t they know that we, the luscious strawberry are relatives to America’s finest and favorite flower, the rose? Although we maybe very temperamental in our flesh [delicate to the touch], our juice and aroma is as sweet as nectar.
Ladies and gentlemen, our quest is not to be better than all fruits, but we strawberries must unite to stand alone without any oppression from those that would want us to join their cause. The ‘Strawberry Smoothie’ is our freedom from the bondage of our tyrant, the banana. The banana has enslaved us so as to revoke our self-esteem and respect as a solo fruit. Our vines have been forged. And their width can be seen on the plains of the Strawberry Fields, forever. Never again shall I be purchased under the price of oppression. I forbid it, Almighty Fruits- I know not what ingredients others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me an expiration date.
