First day of highschool and Crystal-the queen of the school-was walking down the hall with her two best friends Alexandria and Melissa. A couple of guys stopped and stared at the group walk by. But there was only one person the girls were looking for. The new girl Felicity. Everyone said that she was from Salem Massachusetts and said she was a witch. But the girls knew that was a lie. Soon they found her.
“Hi. Are you Felicity?”asked Crystal.
Felicity looked up from her desk were she had her stuff. “Y-yes.”she said shyly.
“What are your classes?”Melissa asked as she took her phone out and took a picture of Felicity.
“Um I have A block Math B block Science C block Social Studies and D Language Arts. Why?”
“Oh we were just wondering because since your new here we just wanted to make you feel as comfortable as ever.”said Alex.
Alex’s real name was Alexandria but everyone knew she hates being called that. So they call her Alex or Alexa. “Thanks. A lot of people are making fun of me because I moved here from Salem. The city of witches.”
“We can see. But that probably wont happen anymore because if your with us no one will make fun of you.”
“Really? Well thanks. Actually one guy made fun of me but he is so cute.”
“Who?!”the friends asked.
“I don’t know his name but he has this beautiful smile and the best hair.”
“Probably Jamie. He is cute after all.”said Melissa.
“Yeah he is. Come on guys we have first class.”
The first periods seemed to drag on forever. Every teacher was repeating themselves. The bell rang for lunch and Felicity found the group. “So boring. Every teacher is repeating everything again and again.”
“Yeah. At least they don’t do it everyday.”said Crystal.
“Wait a minute who is that?”Felicity said pointing to someone way across the lunchroom.
“That? That’s Aaron. He is such a jerk.”
“And with that just stay away from him. He could ruin your life.”said Alex.
“Who’s that guy with him?”asked Felicity.
“That’s his best friend Cody. The second biggest jerk in this school.”
On the other hand Aaron was looking right at Felicity. “Hey Cody who is that?”Aaron said pointing to Felicity.
“That? That’s Felicity. She just moved her from Salem. Why?”
“A Salem witch huh? Just wondering Cody.”said Aaron with a smile.
“You have that smile what’s going on Aaron?”
“Felicity. What a great name.”Aaron said dreamily.
“Aaron don’t go on me. Not yet! Aaron? I’ve lost him.”
“Just kidding Cod. Gosh your so dramatic.”
“Come on lets just go. We have gym next. She might be in our class. You can introduce yourself then.”
“How do you know I want to meet her? What if I just want to get to know her from afar?”
“Then you do?”
“Never mind Cody! Wait gym is going to be boring we have to go over the same thing as last year.”
“Exactly! So we sit behind them in gym Aaron! It’s perfect.”
“Fine lets just go.” Aaron picked up his tray and lead the way out talking to Cody.
“So he is really a jerk?”asked Felicity again.”
“Yes. Stay away from him he is trouble.”
“He looks like an angel. But how can he be such a jerk?”
“He just is Felicity. Hey lets go we have gym class next.”said Melissa.
The girls quietly picked up their lunches and disposed them. Then they were off to the gymnasium.
“This year in gym we will be doing various activities. Including using the Fitness Center, Project Adventure which is were we do activities in groups every gym class. We will start with the low elements where we have games or activities were you have to work in a group and then move to the high element where you will be in the air.”
“Does he ever shut up?”whispered Aaron into Felicity’s ear.
“Huh?”asked Felicity.
“I don’t think we’ve meet. Hi Im Aaron. And you are?”
“Felicity. I just moved here.”
“Really? From where?”
“Salem. Everyone is giving me a hard time about being-”
“A Salem witch?”asked Aaron.
“Exactly. Wait a minute. I heard you are a jerk. Why are you being so... Oh what’s the word?”said Felicity.
“Nice? I don’t know I guess I am who I am.”
Crystal coughed “Liar.”
“Oh hi Crystal. Didn’t see you there. How’s your mom doing?”Aaron asked innocently.
“You jerk! You know what happened.”
“What happened Crystal? I’ve forgotten.”said Aaron.
“That’s why I told you to stay away from him Felicity.”
“I’m sorry Crystal. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”Felicity said empathetically
“Her mom got-”Aaron started.
“Aaron!”screamed Crystal. She jumped up from the bleachers and ran into the girls locker room. Melissa and Alex weren’t to far behind.
“Cris. Crystal.”
“You are a jerk.”Felicity said turning around.
“Not my fault she hates me. But I do know someone who likes me.”whispered Aaron. Felicity got nervous and bit her lower lip. Did he know she likes him? “W-who?”
“Oh just somebody. From this grade. In our homeroom.”
Felicity knew he meant her. “So if I guessed who it was you would tell me?”
“Maybe.” Felicity let out a breath. “Or maybe not.”
Oh great! though Felicity. He wont tell me because he knows it is me. Just great.
“Come on you can trust me.”
“Hey you turn around and pay attention.” Felicity turned right around.
“You’ll know soon young Felicity.”he whispered into her ear. Felicity straighten up immediately and knew what was about to come.
“Nice going Aaron. Way to tell her.” she heard Cody say. Inside she started to cry. Almost on the outside too. But she held her tears in. She had to stay strong.
Finally Felicity got her courage up. “Are you an actor Aaron?”
“No. Why?”
“I don’t know the last thing you said to me I just felt an actor would say something like that in a play. But I guessed wrong.”she said as she turned around again.
Cody nudged Aaron and he knew what he was thinking. After class they met up. “So she is the acting type, huh?”
“You aren’t going to become an actor are you?”asked Cody.
Aaron was already nodding. “But first the tough part. Chorus.”
“Good luck buddy.”Cody said as he was about to go.
“Ah not so fast! You are trying out with me!”
“Why Aaron? Why can’t you impress Felicity on your own?”
“Because I will be the only guy in a room full of Freshmen Sophomores Juniors and Seniors. All girls too. I don’t want to be the only guy in there.”said Aaron desperately.
“You set me up! Fine I’ll go with you. But if I feel uncomfortable I am quitting.”
“Fine with me.”said Aaron.
The girls met at Crystals’s house after school. “Aaron is such a jerk. I don’t know why I spend my time talking to him.”Crystal said while hanging her jacket up in her closet.
“Yeah. Why do we even talk to him and Cody anyway?”asked Alex.
“We need someone to talk to. And make fun of.”
“So true Cris. I mean they are such jerk. Especially since what happened in gym today. I am so sorry that happened. I should have never started talking to him.”said Felicity
“What were you talking about when we left anyway?”asked Melissa.
“Oh just how like he thinks and knows you hate him and how someone in homeroom likes him. I have no idea.”
“It’s you isn’t it?”asked Crystal.
“Me? Ha yeah right. He is a jerk to me too. I would never like that boy in a million years.”said Felicity
“Okay Felicity. Whatever you say.”
“You guys seriously think I like him?”
“Yes. I mean it is so obvious. Is he the one you meant this morning?”asked Melissa.
“Maybe. Okay yes. I think he knows I like him too. That’s the bad part.”
“No to seem rude or anything but how could you possibly like him? He is the world’s biggest jerk!”
“I don’t know I guess he just hypnotizes me. With that great smile, beautiful hair and mischievous attitude.”
“Yeah you’ve gone crazy Felicity.”said Melissa.
“Well it is true he has nice hair and a great smile. But he needs an attitude adjustment. Major adjustment.”said Alex.
“That’s true.”said Felicity.
“So what are you going to do about this at school?”asked Crystal.
“Someone likes Aaron Samuels?”said Crystal’s little brother Cam.
Cam was only 13 but he knew how to flatter someone.
“Cam what did I say about being in my room!”yelled Crystal.
“That I shouldn’t be in it. But seriously who like Aaron?”he asked happily.
“Nobody get out!”
“Wait you never introduced me to your new friend. Hi I’m Cam.”he said nicely.
“Felicity. Nice to meet you Cam.”
“Now can you please go Cameron?”
“Fine, fine gosh. I’ll see you ladies later.”Cam said over his shoulder.
“Yeah right Cam.”Crystal said closing her door.
“Does he always do that?”Felicity asked Crystal.
“Every time I have friends over.”
“Must be annoying. I’m lucky I am the younger sister.”
“Yeah. Anyway. How are we going to fix this problem with Aaron and you?”
“Why is it a problem? I just wont talk to him unless he talks to me. Plus he sits no where near me in any of my classes. Except Spanish.”
“Where is he in Spanish?”asked Alex.
“Right next to me.”said Felicity shyly.
“Well that’s only one class out of eight periods. Maybe it’ll be okay.”said Melissa.
“We’ll try it out. If anything happens we going to action though.”said Crystal
“Okay. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”said Felicity.
Half the day flew by like that. After lunch Felicity had Spanish in Mr. Gonzales’s room. And of course she had to sit next to the one and only Aaron. Or Emilio as he picked for his Spanish name. In groups they had to introduce each other in Spanish and be able to do it in front of everyone. “Hola soy Amalia. ¿Cómo es usted?”
Hola me llamo Emilio. Soy fino. ¿Cómo es usted?
“Eso es bueno. Soy fino.”
After they were done they sat back down. “Wow. It’s like Spanish is your first language Felicity.”said Mr. Gonzales.
“Gracias. Porque aprendí en una edad tan joven.” (Thanks. Because I learned in a such a young age.)
“Huh?”asked Aaron.
“I said ‘Thank you. It is because I learned at such a young age.’”
“Oh. Well then I guess I have the best partner in the class.”said Aaron with a smile.
“Yes but how do you know if I am saying something that wont be mean?”Felicity asked.
“Oh is it like that now? Fine I guess I wont tell you.”
“Tell me what?”asked Felicity. Then she remembered. “Oh please Aaron I don’t care about that person.”
“But it isn’t that Felicity. It’s something for me to know and for you to find out.”
Felicity couldn’t take it anymore and went mad crazy.“¡Usted es tal tirón Aaron! ¿Por qué me puede decir usted? ¡Yo sólo quiero saber!” (You are such jerk Aaron! Why can’t tell me you? I just want to know!)
“Woah! Felicity calm down. I was kidding.”said Aaron.
“¡Felicity! ¡Calme! ¿Qué sucedió?”Mr. Gonzales was trying to calm Felicity down. (Felicity! Calm down! What happened?)
“¡Yo no puedo ser su socio ya el Sr. Gonzales! ¡El es un tirón! ¡Muévame por favor lejos de él!” (I can't be his partner anymore Mr. Gonzales! He is a jerk! Please move me away from him!)
“I’m sorry Felicity I cant. You have to stay there.”
“Fine.”she said as she sat back down.”
“Aww I’m sorry. Did I hurt your feelings?”asked Aaron.
“Aaron back off.”
“Well arent we in a bad mood.”
“Aaron please just don’t talk to me.”
“Aww but then I cant tell you what I wanted to.”
“What Aaron?”asked Felicity a little bit calmer.
“I know who the person is. And she has quite a temper.”Aaron smiled.
“When did you find out?”asked Felicity shyly.
“Since yesterday.”
“Who told you?”
“Crystal’s little brother. He is working for me. My little spy.”
The bell rang for last period. Everyone got there books and headed to homeroom. “You shouldn’t be using a thirteen year old! That’s just rude.”said Felicity in homeroom.
“Okay everyone sit down!”said Mr. McCoy. “I have some announcements. We will be starting our first silent reading book on Monday. A block will be reading Say Goodbye to Hollywood. B block James. C block Highland falls. And D block Five Years From Now.”
Moans and whoops went around the classroom. Some people knew they were going to have a bad time with it and others have already read it. “Great I read all of those already.”said Felicity.
“Are you like Wonder Woman? You can speak Spanish with out one flaw and now you read at this level already?”asked Aaron.
“I like to read.”
“Is there anything you cant do!”said Aaron.
“I cant speak any other languages except Spanish French and English.”
“I shouldnt have asked. What can you say in French Felicity?”
“This. Quand vous parlez Aaron n'y ressemble un son emmitouflé ou juste rien?” (When you speak Aaron is it like a muffled sound or just nothing?)
“What did you just say then?”
“When you speak Aaron is it like a muffled sound or just nothing?”
“You are mean. Maybe I should reconsider.”
“Reconsider what?”
“Oh nothing. Have you seen Cody?”
Felicity felt like messing with Aaron. “Cody ? Qui est Cody ? Je n'ai jamais rencontré personne a appelé Cody. Oh votre meilleur ami Cody! Ne savoir pas. Or. ¿Cody? ¿Quién es Cody? Nunca he encontrado a nadie llamó Cody. ¡Ah su mejor amigo Cody! No saber. (Cody? Who is Cody? I've never met anyone named Cody. Oh your best friend Cody! Don't know.)
“Okay stop showing off Felicity what did you say?”said Aaron annoyed.
“I havent met Cody personally but he is right there.”Felicity was pointing at the door.
“Gracias. Adios!”Aaron said playfully.
He ran over to Cody when the walkers were dismissed.
“Why were you talking to Felicity in homeroom and what was with the screaming in Spanish. I could hear it from Mrs. Sanchez’s room. She translated everything for us.”
“I made Felicity a little aggravated. You didnt tell her did you?”asked Cody
“No I’m not that stupid. She also speaks French though! We should tell the French teacher about her.”
“Does she really? She is one talented girl! Maybe I should ask her out?”
Aaron punched his friend lightly. “Kidding Ar. She is totally yours. Wait when is chorus practice?” They both stopped in their tracks.
“Crap its today! After school.”
The two friends ran back to the school and the teacher was just about to speak when they got in the door. The girls laughed at their entrance. “We are so sorry we forgot.”Aaron said out of breath.
“It’s okay we were just starting. I suppose you two are Aaron Samuels and Cody Lewis?”
“Yes. We really are sorry we forgot about the practice and we are so sorry.”
There was a stifled laugh and both Cody and Aaron found who it was. It was Felicity with Crystal, Melissa and Alex. “You boys may stand next to um lets see.” The choral teacher was looking for an empty spot when she came across where the friends were standing. “You can stand next to that group of girls right there.”
Aaron and Cody looked at each other then smiled. “Thank you.” said Cody.
“You guys are joining chorus?”asked Crystal.
“Yes why is that so unbelievable?”
“You two are the last people who would want to join . Why are you guys really here?”asked Melissa.
“We have great voices. Plus we want to be in the spring play. I am a great actor.”Aaron said with a smirk. He was looking right at Felicity.
“Don’t be an idiot Aaron! I know why you want to be here.”said Felicity.
“Okay lets get started. We are going to warm up first then you will get our first piece.”
The group sounded pretty good. A little pitchy but they could fix that. The first piece was called El Ritmo de la Noche. Which meant Rhythm of the Night. It was hard for everyone to understand the word and the practice went by like nothing.
“Wow you guys really are good.”said Alex.
“Thank you! For once we get a compliment instead of a compliant!”said Cody.
“Well you guys were always jerks to us. We had to complain!”said Melissa.
“True. I guess we just like to mess with you guys. Especially you.”Aaron said pointing to Felicity.
“Of course. It had to be me.”Felicity said with a groan.
“Of course Felicity. We all know what happened during gym class or was it lunch?”Aaron said with a grin.
“Aaron!”screamed Felicity.
“Oh no it was Spanish class.”said Aaron.
“What the?”asked Crystal.
“Never told you I can speak Spanish fluently.”
“And she also didn’t tell you I know.”
“Know what?”asked Melissa.
“Know that he knows I like him.”
“What! How did he find out Felicity?”asked Crystal.
“Your brother is working for him.”
“That’s one thing I forgot to tell you Cris.”said Aaron.
“You cant call me Cris, Aaron!”scream Crystal.
“I should have told you guys earlier. I’m sorry.” Felicity went crying and running back to her house.
“See what you did Aaron?”said Alex.
“What are you talking about Alexa? I didnt do a thing. Crystal’s brother did.”
“Don’t call me Alexa!”
“Yes but you set him up Aaron!”scream Melissa.
“Whatever.”scoffed Aaron.
“Come on guys lets go find Felicity.”said Crystal.
“Hope she isn’t too beat up!”yelled Aaron.
Felicity’s mom answered the door when the girls got to her house. “Hi Mrs. Jackson. Is Felicity home?”asked Crystal.
“Yes she is but she is a little down right now.”said Mrs. Jackson.
“Yes we know. We were there when everything happened Mrs. Jackson.”said Alex.
“Oh girls please call me Jackie. You can go see her.”said Mrs. Jackson.
The girls rushed up the stairs and into Felicity’s room. She was sprawled over her bed. “Felicity? It’s us. We are so sorry.”said Melissa sitting down on the bed.
“Why? Why did I have to meet him?”asked Felicity.
“We are all asking that question Felicity but seriously he is a jerk.”said Alex.
“I know but he is so... different. I guess.”said Felicity a little bit calmer.
“Come on it’s Friday. Let go to my house and just have a girls night.”said Crystal trying to cheer Felicity up.
“No. I’m fine. I’ll see you guys on Monday.”said Felicity.
“Okay Felicity. Come over if you want.”said Crystal.
Soon after the trio left Felicity started writing about the first week of school. But as she started she got a phone call. “Hello?”
“Hey Felicity its Aaron.”
“What do you want? Make fun of me again?”asked Felicity not in the mood for talking.
“I called to say I am sorry. I am a jerk. And I want to fix it.”said Aaron.
“Apology not accepted. Yes you are a jerk. No way you can change it. Unless... no.”
“What are you thinking Felicity?”asked Aaron.
“Unless I help you tomorrow?”said Felicity.
“Help me learn to be nicer? Well I guess.”
“Good. I’ll meet you over my house at one. I’ll see you tomorrow Aaron.”
“Bye Felicity.”said Aaron hanging the phone up.
Felicity did go to Crystal’s that night. They were having a great night when Felicity told her friends about how Aaron called. “He did? He seriously apologized?”
“Yes. And he is coming over my house tomorrow at one.”said Felicity.
“Really? What are you wearing?”asked Crystal.
“I don’t know. Does it really matter?”asked Felicity.
“Yes. If he likes you back he will probably ask you out. And you have to be wearing the appropriate apparel.”said Alex.
“What if I ask him?”asked Felicity half understanding
“Then that is another question. Do you know how to talk to him and stuff?”
