I smacked the side of my head against the window closing my eyes. I sighed to myself, things never went my way. I would have been happy avoiding my fate for the rest of my life but as life has it, it drags you ever nearer to the fate you never want to experience.
The train bumped along and I opened my eyes, my head trying desperately not to smack against the window so hard that my skull would crack. Jasper's eyes swept coolly over to me, we were all alone in the small compartment, him on one side and me on the other. Jade and Darius were in the next compartment
We were both going to separate vampire encampments close to the heart of the werewolf territory for the final battle, it was all or nothing. Jade and Darius would be separated from Jasper and I to train in the camps.
I looked over next to me and carefully untied the small gift given to me by the Vampire Counsel. A short, dark green silken dress poured out onto my lap. The intricacies in the weaving were breath taking, hugging and dancing around the curves. It tucked and weaved gracefully, asymmetrical so the back hung lower than the front. I tugged on it, expecting it to break, but it held surprisingly firm.
I spoke softly, "What is this.."
Jasper spoke quickly, "It's silk bewitched with vampire venom."
My eyes widened and I dropped the dress quickly, but he caught it before it hit the floor, "Don't worry, it's dried and no longer dangerous."
I gently slid it back and my fingers slightly hit his, causing me to draw back quickly and blush, turning my eyes back out the window.
Cecily pushed her way into my brain,
Sakir... how are you feeling..
I closed my eyes
I don't want to go through with this whatever THIS is.
She nudged me
Without you the supernatural world will die, I assure you, you have to go through with this.
I balled my fists up
Let it die! And what on earth am I going to go through?!
She sighed heavily
Sakir, open your eyes, how could you see him go like that...
I bit my lip
I love him more than anything on the earth but what good will that do if he's just going to kill me..
She was silent for a moment then spoke again
It's eating him that he's going to do that, resign yourself and put him at ease, it's weird to see you two so silent and apart..
I sighed
I am resigned.
Something shook from within me and her face appeared for a second, smiling brightly. It struck me that she was completely different from how I had seen her before. Her olive skin and brown eyes were sweet and soft and her hair curled around the contours of her face quite beautifully. I smiled softly and she disappeared, disconnecting from my conscious.
I opened my eyes and Jasper's eyes were downcast. I got up and walked over to him, straddling his knees and tipping his chin up, kissing him with more trust and passion than I ever had before. I broke away and looked into his deep blue eyes.
His breath was cool against my skin, "Sakir.."
I continued to look at him, "Jasper, I love you, and I will always love you, no matter how this plays out. I don't want you to ever look back if something happens to me, everything is for the best and I simply could not live with myself if you were to be killed instead of me."
I stroked his face and he laid his hand over mine, "I love you as well, more than you will ever know, and although this will continue to eat at me, your words provide some comfort. Can you promise me something?"
I nodded and he continued, "When I..... kill you... please don't cry or hate me, because you know I would never do it purposely."
I closed my eyes and laid my head on his shoulder, "Of course.."
Jade burst into the compartment at that moment and did an over-dramatic gasp, "OO LALA!"
My head shot up, almost taking off Jasper's nose, "JADE!"
She jumped on us and squeezed us impossibly tight-- I think one of my ribs cracked, "GROUP HUGGG!"
Jasper patted her back a little awkwardly and I laughed. She smiled at us, "Well you two love birds, you'll be off on your own soon, without--- without--- without---" She choked slightly and sobbed, "MEEEE!"
My eyes went wide and I hugged her, "It's ok Jadee, we'll see each other before we all go die anyways."
She smiled slightly, "Eh, I suppose, I'm not really going to miss you."
I narrowed my eyes, "Thanks."
The train slowed down and we all leaned forward slightly, staying delicately balanced, showing our inhumanity. She took my hand and skipped out of the train with me, Jasper and Darius gliding slowly behind.
I stepped down onto the wooden platform. It was truly in the middle of nowhere, a giant field of swaying yellow grass all around us and a forest off in the distance to the right and to the front.
Jade was adorned in a dark blue dress like my own with silver pieces draped over her front and twisted around to her back, hanging like soft wings. Darius stood next to her, a largely imposing figure, a long black cloak hitting the ground and a darker than dark blue armored suit underneath. His eyes were somewhat softer as he took Jade's hand and waved good-bye to us, flying across the train tracks and through the field.
They looked like a tidal wave of night piercing the glow of the sun as they raced towards the forest and to Fort Delacroix. I sighed sadly but then looked up at Jasper who looked down at me with a big smile and a twinkle in his eye. A dark green armored suit adorned him, dark brown designs over it. I smiled back at him, my dress blowing gracefully in the wind.
He bent down and kissed me, taking me by the hand and walking slowly -- for a vampire -- towards Fort Greenly miles and miles away. We were to meet there and train briefly, then be shipped quickly to the battle grounds to get an overview of the land. I was the secret weapon, and they intended to use me to the best advantage possible.
He swept my legs up into his arms and I grasped onto his neck. He leaned down and kissed my neck, "I want to take this walk slow.."
I closed my eyes, "Please do."
