Beowulf
I can't do a segment on Norse Myth (and related Germanic) without going over the story of Beowulf. The story starts with the monster Grendel terrorizing what is now Denmark. Beowulf set out from Sweden to do battle with this monster. Beowulf pretends to be asleep in the great Mead hall of Hrothgar. Grendel comes in and tries to eat Beowulf when Beowulf turned around and grabbed Grendel's arm. Grendel is immune to Sword, but It never expected someone to tear it's arm off. After literally disarming Grendel, it bled to death. There was a brief time of rejoicing before Grendel's mother went to avenge her son. Beowulf followed Grendel's mother to her underwater lair. There, he found a powerful, magical sword threat he used to kill Grendel's mother. The blade dissolved in the monster's blood. Beowulf died fighting a Dragon.
