So my father's been begging me to type these extremely old recipes for ages.... and today I am just bored enough to start the task (technically he handed them to me and gave me early computer privileges), since I must type them I might as well share them with people who can possibly actually cook, since I can't do that too well. Everything typed is exactly what was written on the cards and that may occasionally include where, when, and whom she got them from and this is only the first edition... there's more cards here than I can type this evening.

Marshmallows X
2cups sugar
3/4cup water
1/4tsp salt
1/2tsp vanilla
2tbs Knox gelatin in 1/2cup cold water.

Dissolve gelatin in 1/2cup cold water & spread at bottom of the dish in which you intend to beat.
Pour the syrup over this mixture & stir until dissolved.
Let partially cool. Then beat until very stiff & will stand up in peaks.
Add vanilla and salt. *my grandmother used that a lot in desserts she made, so this may be hers. The exact amounts for the two ingredients will never be entirely sure because she added them by eye. Typically the salt was measured by filling the small middle of the palm and the vanilla by a small dose *
Pour into square tin with straight up and down sides which has been thoroughly lined with corn starch & powdered sugar.
Let stand in a cool place (not in refrigerator) until firmly set.
Then remove from tin onto wax paper covered with powdered sugar & corn starch.

amusedwriter rambles
Things I write for no apparent reason other than to pass the time. Most stories have no endings, but contain an awful lot of meaningless dialogs. Other entries are basically boring life occurrences that have nothing to do with my stories whatsoever.
