To Hell with my old narrating style! I wasn't going to get much farther with it. Now, all cats narrate a chapter. You know, I think i might change the poll.
I maybe be a short target, but this is sad. -Hiei. (Yu Yu Hakusho)

GreenGangster: Now, would I kill off my clowder just like that?
The fox well behind them, the clowder relaxed slightly. They rested, and ate. Then they came to a black path. Machines ran on the plack path, machines that could crush a cat. Crossing would prove to be a problem.
"We'll cross in groups. Queens and warriors carrying kittens first." Merra instructed. Then Ariya and Azenek, then other warriors, then Me."
This black path was wider than the one they were used to, and would be difficult to get across safely.
The first group constisted of Cowa, Liyen, and Shira, each carrying one of Liyen's she-kits. It was still dark out, but soon the machines would come in droves, making it near impossible to cross.
The three she-cats. made their way across, all was quiet. Cowa was calm, but Shira and Liyen were noticably jumpy.
The rumble of a machine in the distance startled Shira so that she forgot she was carrying a kitten, and the young she-cat stumbled forward. The kit Zila squealed as she bumped against the hard path.
Liyen whimpered with worry, and tightened her grip on her other daughter, Kala. By then, Cowa and Melo were almost at the edge. The other two reached it without much trouble, and the next group set out.
This one consisted of Sarma carrying Solla's white kitten, Indero, and Langen, who was carrying Solla's tabby-and White kitten. The queen, the warrior, and the kit crossed without problems.
There was a faint light in the distance by the time the next group went forward. Sokrin and Solla each carried one of the latter's newborns.
Now that all the kits were across, Azenek and Ariya began. Suddenly, there was a rumble, not far off. A machine rounded the bend, its eyes glowing. The second, and the medicine cat ran with all their stregnth, determindedly not looking at the machine. They had all been taught not to, as the glare of its eyes could paralyze a cat.
The cats who hadn't gone yet tensed. Koryo held his breath, and Tilynka closed her eyes. When she opened them, she sighed in relief. The two cats had made it.
With the machine gone, another group of she-cats began the crossing. Kaymi, Scaide, and Senni moved slightly faster than the previous groups, when another machine appeared.
Kaymi and Senni sprinted to the other side, and noticed that Scaide wasn't with them.
Younger and less expirienced than the other two, Scaide had instinctively glanced at the machine, and had been caught in its stare.
If Azenek hadn't grabbed her with his paws, Shira almost definately would have dashed onto the path to help her sister, but he held her, so she stood, her eyes tearing.
Suddenly, something ran into Scaide. It was about the same size as a cat, but in the fleeting light of the machine's eyes, none of them could tell what it was.
When the machine had passed, most of them sighed with relief. Koryo was crouched with one paw over the young she-cat's back, having just pushed her out of the machine's way.
Shira sank to the ground, weak with relief, and Merra realized she'd been holding her breath.
The leader sent Tilynka and Hana across, then crossed herself with Nekan and Tenaku.
And the clowder padded on.
