Sorry for not blogging for a while. I just haven't gotten around to it, I guess...
Just an FYI for anyone who didn't see it, an admin recently requested that everyone on Gaia change their passwords ASAP. I changed mine on both my accounts already.
I've removed some more users from my friends list. If you've been removed, it's because you haven't logged in since at least Mar. 1, 2008. As before, being removed doesn't mean that I don't consider you a friend. It just means you aren't around enough and you don't talk to me enough.
For the last several months, I've been fishing exclusively at Durem. However, I've recently found that I can sometimes earn more gold fishing at Gambino than at Durem. I won't post my numbers here, but to make the most profit per bucket, I found I should do the first two buckets each day at Durem (while my F bait is A quality) and then each remaining D quality F bucket at Gambino while filtering out trash. A filtered D quality Gambino buckets yields more profit per bait spent than an unfiltered D quality Durem bucket (I'm not capable of filtering trash at Durem). I'm not sure if this is the most time-efficient way to fish for profit, but it's the most bait-efficient.
Since having two Plus rods seems like a waste to me, I'm thinking about quitting Durem fishing altogether and moving on to Gambino. For now I'm fishing in both lakes.
I've also realized that since I have two accounts (this one and my storage mule), I can do twice as much fishing. I usually limit myself to 5 buckets a day since more isn't really profitable (I can still make a profit, but only barely), but between my two accounts, I can do ten buckets a day, five on each account. That'll earn me fish twice as fast if I have the time (which I often don't).
For the curious, here's what I earned for two A quality F buckets followed by three D quality F buckets, all filtered to remove trash (although I caught a few by accident):
Fish Name - # caught * price/fish = asset
Green Seekin - 25 * 7g = 175g
Blue Seedkin - 23 * 8g = 184g
Pink Seedkin - 20 * 8g = 160g
Warm Trout - 6 * 14g = 84g
Frozen Trout - 5 * 14g = 70g
Cool Trout - 3 * 15g = 45g
Spicy Tuna - 2 * 50g = 100g
Dicy Tuna - 2 * 60g = 120g
Icy Tuna - 1 * 60g = 60g
Trash - 3 * negligible = negligible
Buckets = 5
Total fish items = 90
Total gold = 998g
Bait (@ 20g each) = -100g
Total profit = 898g
Unfortunately, the fishing game has been shut down for a few weeks to get rid of the bots. It's still down as of this post. They're either adding CAPTCHAs or retooling the backend so the bots no longer work (as they did with Jigsaw). I'm hoping on the latter, as it's only going to be a few more years before bots are sophisticated enough to read all CAPTCHAs.
Gaia's prom also occurred a few weeks ago. It had a DDR-like game that we could play. It was a lot of fun! The only thing I didn't really like about it is that it wasn't something you could really do with a date or with friends, but I still liked it. ^_^
My lotto concluded several weeks ago. I sold the remainder of the Tickets and drew the winners, and also handed out an unannounced prize for the top bumper. All told, I gave away 55k worth of stuff, while I only took in maybe 45k worth of tickets. So I lost about 10k on that lotto. But that's okay, because I got more than 10k worth of enjoyment out of it. ^_^
What I find funny about the results is that all three winners were ticket buyers from the around thread's beginning. None of the users who bought tickets when the tickets were half sold won anything. They say that life rewards action, and I guessed it rewarded the early ticket buyers too...
I hang out in SF a lot, and I've seen many users say that they would love to participate in a lotto, but don't trust user-run ones due to the risk of scamming. That's most likely why most of the people who bought tickets to my lotto were either friends or acquaintances; they either trusted me or felt "obliged" to purchase tickets out of friendship. I've bought tickets to quite a few small-time lottos and while I've never won anything, I have yet to be scammed (not that they're all scam free). And even if I did get scammed, I never throw more gold into a lotto then what I'm willing to lose.
I've had a few users ask me if I plan to do another lotto. I currently don't plan on doing another one. It was just for fun, and wasn't really intended to become a regular thing. My lotto had a relatively low number of available tickets (and thus relatively good odds of winning), but they were also relatively pricey. So if I did another one, I would offer a larger quantity of cheaper tickets. I would also offer my prize in pure gold, and nix the bulk ticket discount. I may do another one someday, but as of now, I'm not planning on it.
In other Gaia news, I sold off my Coco and Blanket that I bought in my last journal entry. I think I made about 150k profit between them. I used some of the proceeds to buy a Staff of the Angels, and the rest will be for day-to-day MPing. The Staff has already deflated 100k since I bought it. =(
The Gaia slut event I mentioned in my last journal entry was a complete disaster. The thread creator hadn't even been online for the week leading up to the event. With no leadership, nobody knew what to do. A new event has been scheduled for sometime in August. If you'd like to participate, check out this thread.
Everyone go see Iron Man, if you haven't done so already. Great movie.
Got a few new SSBM scores since my last journal entry:
Cruel Melee
Dr Mario - 45 KOs
Mario - 21 KOs
Marth - 42 KOs video
Cruel total = 4281 KOs (US record)(7th worldwide)
Adventure Mode
Bowser - 4,096,154
Falco - 4,155,246
Kirby - 4,087,584
Adventure total - 110,632,256 (US record)(3rd worldwide)
Classic Mode
C. Falcon - 1,376,890
Gaonondorf - 1,424,270 (world record) video
Classic total - 36,531,950 (2nd in US)(4th worldwide)
The Adventure and Cruel scores are unremarkable, although I'm rather happy with my Marth score. I'm gonna try immo with him again one of these days. I finally got the Classic wr with Ganon. That was embarassingly hard. Plenty of room for improvement!
The list of world records for SSBM has been moved. The new list is located here. I update it myself every evening.
The list of all major SSBM Stadium players and their totals has also been moved. The new list is located here. I also update it myself every evening.
That's all for now. Stay tuned, I may or may not update this later.
