You know what..... Chimpy reminds me of Bob. Whenever the boss would take a day off Bob would get all puffed up, like he was some kind of important and start trying to run the show. It would make me laugh when Bob did it, because he never knew that before the boss took off he would tell everyone that he was leaving me in charge.

Okay, so seriously, being "in charge" around here basically means if the place catches on fire I'm to call 911. There is no real "power" behind it, he just wants to be able to make sure nobody does stupid stuff....usually nobody being Bob (formerly) and now Chimpy.

When Bob would get all puffed up, we'd all just ignore him, because he was just an engineer and had no say over anyone other than himself.

In the end, Bob was fired for being a druggie.

I know, right. Turned out that puffed up Bob was a heroine addict.

Not that Chimpy is a druggie. Nope. No way. But, Chimpy does try to get all puffed up and he starts running around making stupid decisions. For example, he came in my office this morning and was like, "I need you to buy this and this." I told him what he really needed was permission to get that and that. He said, "Oh, but I need three more demo boxes blah blah - I can't do my job with just one blah blah." My point - I'm not going to authorize the purchase of three $5,000 units without hearing about it from someone other than Chimpy - much less without discussing it with my boss. LouLou is not stupid.

The problem is that we already have made a purchase of three demo units of a different project that Chimpy "had to have" because he couldn't do his job without them. So far he has never done a single thing with any of them.

I just get so damn infuriated because the stupid SALES guy refuses to SELL stuff. He wants to be in the engineering department, but he's not only completely unqualified - it's not what he was hired to do.

I'm getting so pissed off saying that over and over and over again.

I've got a letter to my boss pulled together. Don't know if it will matter. Normally this type of situation resolves itself. I just don't want Chimpy to keep bugging me about stuff.
