Last time it was raining and some mysterious person was holding an umbrella for Mexia! Who is it? Also, is mission time coming up? Read and find out!
Mexia looked up to the interior of a black umbrella. Once she noticed she wasn’t getting wet anymore and that it was darker around her, that was her natural reaction. A smile spread across her face as she recognized who it was holding the umbrella.
“Sensei!” Mexia yelled, launching out from under the umbrella and into her teacher’s arms, knocking the umbrella to the ground .
“Jeez kid, I held the umbrella for you so you wouldn’t get wet, but now that was all for nothing!” a blonde-haired woman said, sighing, but smiling all the same. “And I’ve told you so many times, don’t call me Sensei. Err…don’t start calling me mom either, although I almost consider you a daughter by now. My name’s Rai, not ‘Sensei’. I like being called by my name, Mexia.”
Mexia stared at her. “But Sensei!”
Rai sighed. “Whatever. Hey, where are the other two twerps?” she asked, a hand to her forehead as she scanned the area for them.
“Hm? Oh, they’re not here. I left training early because I think I overstressed my body, but they should still be back in the forest. What are you doing out sensei?”
Rai gave her the kind of look a concerned parent might have given. “Mexia, you shouldn’t wander around the streets if you’re hurt. Also, you’re only 12 brat, so I don’t have to answer anything you ask!” she taunted, waving her arms about.
Mexia giggled. “I’m fine, seriously; I don’t know why you guys worry so much! Also, I’m almost 13 sensei! And did you know that you look a lot like Tsunade-sama when you wave your arms like that? Can you punch through walls too?”
Rai stopped waving and growled. “I don’t see why everyone thinks I look like Tsunade! Just because I have blonde hair in pigtails and brown eyes does not make me Tsunade! Besides, my pigtails are in the front! I have bangs, my eyes are a darker shade of brown, I’m a bit taller, and I don’t have ‘watermelons’ or dress like a hooker!” she began to rant, stamping her foot and crossing her arms.
Mexia continued to giggle and began walking toward her apartment again. “I bet you’d look even more like her if you didn’t wear such loose clothes all the time Sensei! Anyway, I’m going home, so you can continue on your business if you want. And don’t worry about me, the rain isn’t going to kill me!” she waved goodbye to her team leader and began running away as best she could toward her apartment. She could barely make out an audible “Be careful!” from Rai. She smiled happily all the way home.
Rai put her umbrella up again and began walking toward the Hokage’s building again. She smiled sadly as she entered the Hokage’s office. “Sarutobi, sir, I’m here. Sorry I’m late. I ran into one of my students.” Rai said, as she set her umbrella near the door.
The third Hokage smiled. “Yes, hello Rai. You’re here for your mission, correct?” He got up and shuffled toward a file cabinet. Searching through the folders, he found what he was looking for. “Ahh yes, you are scheduled for this mission.” Sarutobi said, flopping the file down in front of Rai as she sat down in the chair in front of his desk.
Rai lifted up the file and searched through its contents. Her eyes widened a bit. “An S-rank? But sir, what about my students?”
“They can handle it. This mission should only take you guys about 2 and a half weeks.” he replied, laying his hands on his chest. His brown eyes twinkled with amusement. Rai was always worrying about those kids. “We need you to take this mission Rai. This is the third great shinobi war and we need as many available ninja we can get out there in Stone country. I know you’ve only been teaching them for barely a year now, but I think they can handle it. Tomorrow I’m sending out Yondaime and his team to the same country, at a different location.”
Rai was still uncertain. She’d heard Yondaime’s team was good. Rin was a medical ninja, Kakashi was an amazing fighter, and Obito was an Uchiha-albeit not a very good one-but still an Uchiha all the same. As far as she could tell, her team was completely normal with no blood line limits at all. Mexia might have a blood-line ability hidden deep within her, but that was unlikely. Her parents would’ve kept her if there was a chance of that.
“Is something bothering you Rai?” Sarutobi asked, leaning in to look at her.
“Hmm? Oh, no, it’s nothing. Yeah, I’ll accept. I just hope you know what you’re doing Hokage-sama…” she mumbled, rubbing the back of her head with her left hand, holding the file with her right.
Sarutobi smiled, his slight wrinkled creasing at the eyes. “You leave in 3 days. Good luck!” he yelled out as Rai exited the room and walked down the hall.
