Most of you have probably heard about it already but didn't think much of it.
Sadly, pathetically, I know I was one of them.

I don't know what it is about people that make them ignore the hardships of others...maybe out of pure selfishness..maybe as a form of self-protection...but that doesn't make it right.

I know currently, China is being burned in the international spotlight.
With the problems in Thailand and the boycotting of the Olympics...but that's not the issue right now.

I think as a people, we need a common enemy as a force to band together against...and tend to completely villainize a country and people...just for being different, just for being raised in a country across the ocean with different teachings and beliefs.

And the worst part is, it's almost like a trend to join that mentality of hate without due cause.
Think about it: most people point fingers at China, but have they ever really been harmed by them?
So you lost your job to a kid in a sweat shop in some foreign country....does that make them someone you should HATE?
And for anyone who hasn't been harmed by them....WHY?
Ask yourself why.
They are people.
Just like you and me.

And no, I don't agree with a lot of things the country is doing.
The Communists ruined my familes...destroyed our family histories...you think I would support them completely just because I'm also Chinese?
No...I really don't....but I don't HATE them.
How could I HATE an entire people?

Especially with things like this...these disasters should remind us that the Chinese people are still fragile...easily broken like anyone.
People are weak....bodily...so we shouldn't let that cause our MINDS and SOULS to become weak by IGNORING people in pain...

Though...I don't really know what we can do for the victims besides keeping them in our thoughts, and if you do, prayers.
Or to spread the word...the word of acceptance.
Even a moment of silence will do...


I almost wish I could disable comments on my journal...this isn't something up for discussion...and I'm afraid of the near-sighted comments I may recieve..but regardless, I leave you all with this story that has been going around:


When the rescuers found her, she was already dead. She was kneeling, her body bent forwards, her two hands were on the ground - propping up her body; it was almost like she was praying, except her body was bent out of shape.

Just as the rescue team was about to leave, someone suddenly yelled "Come back!" They returned to her corpse, someone reached out a hand under her body. They rummaged for a while, and then shouted. "There's someone there. A child! It's still alive!"

Carefully, they cleared the rubble around her, and retrieved the child beneath her body. He was wrapped in a red blanket, covered with yellow flowers, only 3, 4 months of age. He was completely unhurt, protected under his mother's body. And when they took him out, he was slumbering peacefully.

A doctor unraveled the blanket to examine the child, and found a mobile phone. He glanced at it absent-mindedly, noticing the screen bore a short message. Tears ran down his cheeks as he read.

"My dear child, if you survive, always remember that I love you."
