Godi's daily ponderings
The events of the day that I feel are important, my thoughts on certain subjects, the occasional rant and whatever else I feel the urge to write about.
Godi's rant: The 'Use once and then throw it away' mentality
Ok, so I've been noticing this a lot and it's really starting to irritate me. I'm sure you've all heard the 'It's so easy. Just use it once and the throw it in the garbage. You never have to think about it again' marketing campaings.

WRONG!!! ******** WRONG! See, that's the problem. Out of sight, out of mind, but it's still ******** there!!! Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean that it no longer exists. You know where all that s**t is going?! Landfills! The ocean! Slowly, but surely, the filth you have created is creeping back in on us. So what if you don't have to deal with it this very second, it's going to be much worse later on.

I'm so sick of people wanting results this instant, when it's going to cost a huge amount later on. It makes absolutely no sense to me at all, and it just makes me so angry.

And the latest craze of cleaning products isn't even the worst part. Almost all products have huge amounts of waste to them, completely useless. What I have a HUGE problem with is all the other aspects of our lives this mentality has crossed over to.

The workplace for example. During the wave of lay-offs at Bell, Nortel etc. the people being let go were earning higher salaries. This is true, but there is a reason they got a pay hike in the first place. The companies had invested thousands of dollars in to training each person to be completely competent in their areas. So what if it meets the bottom line for that month? Aren't they ultimately going to have the same problem, in addition to having to pay to re-train all of the new employees? ********, that's so stupid.

The mentality is also affecting how we take care of ourselves. Simply put, most people don't. The joy of cooking has been completely lost to frozen dinners and fat-injected take-out. No nutrition, just instant gratification. Who cares if I'm destroying my liver? It tastes good. No one puts the effort into excersise either. I'm sick of hearing everyone's excuses why they can't. I don't have time... whaaaa... MAKE TIME! Instead of watching that TV show, or taking a nap, go for a run. It's just about the most efficient at burning calories and all you need is a pair of shoes. Know why no one does? Because it's easier to just sit.

It's even showing up in our relationships. Everyone wants the quick and easy relationship where their partner goes out of their way to please them and they do nothing in return. You know what's going to happen if you put as little effort into your relationships as you do into cleaning and healthy eating? The best you can possibly hope for is a short-term marriage that's nothing better than a glorified ********. It requires effort and sacrifice from both sides people. Everyone wants the quick and easy way, and relationships are never easy all the time, so our immediate solution is divorce. It makes it all go away right now. Sound familiar? Rather than dealing with the problem(s), we give up and call it quits and push the problem out of our minds. In the process, we are throwing away a perfectly great relationship.

Instant gratification will always remain something of a novelty to us. It's hard for most to be responsible when they're stuck in such a despicable environment.

the fast food, liver killing, instant gratification meals may taste good, but I find they are nothing compared to homecooked meals. I always feel much healthier and cleaner when ever I eat something at home, whether it's a salad or steak, just because it's closer to actuall FOOD. lol. As too the part about about running, I can't really make a comment because I am one of the people who keep putting off going for a run. Lucky I have tkd, so it doesn't matter as much if i can't stand running.

That was quite the angry at society rant. You're brilliant at those.
