Rei, you and the demon slayer need to move as far away from the rockslide as possible, Kuro instructed. The fight is over. We already are, Rei replied. To Daichi, she said, “They’re coming to get us.” “Good.” They could soon hear faint voices on the other side of the pile of rocks. Then they all died away except for one. It was Ichiro and he was chanting something. The rocks began to move back to where they had been before they had fallen. It didn’t take long for the mouth of the cave to be reconstructed. “Rei!” Kuro said as he moved quickly to his partner’s side. “Rei, are you all right? How’s your arm?” “It’s fine, Kuro. Somai-kun* put a splint on it. How’s your head?” “I healed it. Wait,” Kuro glared at Daichi for a second before adding, “Did you just call him ‘Somai-kun?’ I thought you didn’t like him.” Rei shrugged. “He’s not that bad. Despite him being a demon slayer, his heart is in the right place.” A woman standing next to Ichiro giggled. “Sounds like you two have something to talk about later,” she said in a voice as smooth as velvet and as clear as a glass bell. Daichi looked over at the woman. She was beautiful! She appeared to be in her late twenties to early thirties. Her beauty was the older, classical beauty that has always been treasured. She had long, shiny black hair that fell to her knees and was tied towards the end with a red ribbon. Her golden yellow eyes were bright against her pale skin. She wore a dark blue, Chinese style dress with a slit on both sides that went to her thighs with red flowers and gold trim and a gold obi tied with a long red cord. The dress complimented her hourglass figure perfectly. She also wore black high heels with sheer white tights and long, fingerless white gloves. She wore red lipstick and the faintest bit of color on her cheeks. Stella Mare, Daichi said to himself. Kuro ignored Stella Mare’s comment and began healing Rei’s arm. Stella Mare frowned at being ignored and sat next to Rei as Daichi got up and walked over to where Bakar and Ichiro were standing. “Are you okay, captain?” Bakar asked. “I’m fine. You?” Bakar shrugged. “A couple burns, a couple cuts, a couple bruises. I’ll just be sore in the morning.” “So, Rei, what happened?” Stella Mare asked in a hushed voice. “Nothing really. We just talked.” “Then why are you calling him ‘Somai-kun?’” Stella Mare asked slyly. “I changed my mind about him,” Rei mumbled. “And why is it such a big deal that I’m using an honorific when I refer to him?” Stella Mare leaned over and whispered in Rei’s ear, “I think he likes you.” Rei’s face turned bright red. “W-what?” Stella Mare smiled knowingly. “I knew it.” “You knew what?” Kuro asked as he finished healing Rei’s arm and began taking off the splint. “I’ll tell you later,” Stella Mare said as she got up and went to stand with Ichiro. As they walked out of the cave, Daichi fell into step beside Rei. “It was nice talking to you, Nerio-chan**,” he said, smiling. “I hope we’ll be able to talk again.” “It’s a possibility,” Rei replied.

*-kun is an honorific used for boys. In Japan, refering to someone without an honorific is a sign of familiarity. If you are not familiar with someone, it is considered very rude to refer to them without an honorific. Rei had been refering to Daichi without an honorific to intentionally be rude because she didn't like him. **Daichi had been refering to Rei without an honorific.
