Purpose: To observe the reactions of persons when offered flowers by a 16yr old teenager.
Materials: - Flowers - A smile
Procedure: 1. Pick various wild flowers so as to have a fair number. 2. Find a location filled with people. (ex. The fair) 3. Wander around and offer various people flowers. 4. Record their reactions as well as wether or not they took the flower. 5. Repeat steps 3-4 untill you run out of flowers or you have to go home.
Observations:
Out of the 13 people I offered flowers to, 6 people accepted.
People who are wandering alone are more likely to accept flowers then those who don't. Older gentlemen are most likely to accept flowers, as well as boys who are younger then you. Most people who don't want flowers politely decline, a few will look at you as if you are crazy/high/both. A good idea is to not give flowers to smaller children when their parents are present, they get a very angry look in their eyes when they see you trying to give something to their child. The people who worked at the carnival were very nice and seemed to appreciate me giving out flower goodness.
Overall, a very successful experiment. Will possibly repeat it in various other settings.
