I'm gonna try to write a little more, but I'm probably gonna get kicked off in the middle again, but here goes.
The guard beckoned the three adventurers inside. They stepped through the gateway and it shut behind them. Syris now saw how the rickety peices of housing were still standing. Behind the wooden shell, there was a wall made of reinforced concrete. A small section of the wall was missing. Syris gathered that the crappy wood was used to disguise the weakness in their defence. The guard ushered them into the cathedral.
"Bishop," the guard said, "these are the ones." An old man stepped away from some children. His face held as much wisdom as it did wrinkles. His silver hair was slightly visible from under his priest hat. He waved his hand and the guard excused himself.
"Hello," the old man said wearily, "I am Bishop Nelson, and this is my church. What brings you here, travelers? There is no doubt in my mind that you know a little bit of why we're doing this."
"We have heard of your Zombie Lord," Syris replied, "If you give us food and shelter for the night, we will help defend your church."
"I thank you for your help," was the bishops response, "The lady over there will feed you, and you may sleep in the pews. It's the only thing we have."
"Thank you," said Syris. The bishop returned to tending to the children. The three of them ate their fill, and then rested. Syris fell into a deep uneasy sleep. Visions of a half-woman half-spider haunted his sleep. Her jade eyes pierced him as painfully as any arrow. A beautiful dark elf beckoned for him to come forward. Syris awoke drenched in sweat. He jumped up so suddenly, that he almost fell from his pew. The same dream again, he thought. He knew the elf girl from somewhere.........but where?
"Syris?" a voice from behind him asked, "What the hell are you doing?" Syris turned around to see his friend Megadeth watching him with a concerned eye.
"Nothing......." Syris answered through his heavy breathing, "What are you doing?"
"Syris," Megadeth said as he shook his head, "your starting to piss me off with your secret dreams. In any case, the zombies should be arriving any minute. They want you on the ramparts with your bow."
"How do they know I'm skilled with a bow?" Syris asked.
"I told them, but don't worry. That's all I told them...." he said with a roguish wink. At that, he left the building. Syris slowly got up. His muscles stiff from sleeping on the hard wooden pews. As Syris was leaving, a little girl approched him.
"Mister elf?" the child asked.
"Yes?" Syris replied.
"Are you gonna save us from the bad peoples?" she asked. Syris's heart melted at the innocence of the question. So simple...... Why do children always have to make life difficult, Syris wondered.
"Yes," Syris answered knowing Megadeth would be pissed, "I promise I'll take care of the bad guys."
"Thanks mister!" the little girl cried, "Give 'em one for mommy and daddy!" She gave Syris a big hug, and then ran off to play with the other children.
"Syris!" Megadeth's voice yelled from the outside, "Get you girly elven a** out here right now!"
Syris walked outside waving to Megadeth and Psycho as he went. He climbed up to the ramparts. He looked over the wall for his enemies. Nothing but the black hill in the distance. Wait, the hill was moving. No, it's not the hill. They're coming........
I figured this was as good as any a stopping point. I gotta go again.....sorry. I'll keep writing though.
