~~~Episode Thirty-One~~~
Haku had been in the repair dock for almost a full day now, and Yuri was growing worried. He refused to allow the Autobots near the Gummi Ship, and had been ready to fight Wheeljack as the mechanic had offered to help.
Haku seemed to be afraid of the Autobots. Yuri didn’t know why, but every time they came near him, Haku would pale and stiffen.
She had never seen Haku act like this, and it was unnerving. If he was so scared of the Autobots, should she?
“Yuri?”
Yuri jumped, turning as a voice interrupted her thoughts. Zeke blinked,
“Oh, sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.”
He apologized. Yuri paused, and then smiled a little.
“Oh, it’s ok. I was just thinking-“
“About Haku?”
Zeke interrupted. Yuri nodded slightly, and Zeke sighed.
“Me too. That idiot is going to wear himself out if he keeps this up. He hasn’t eaten a thing since we got here, and he hasn’t slept a wink.”
Yuri put her hands together,
“We have to do something Zeke.”
She said. Zeke put a hand forward,
“Yeah…maybe we could knock him out and let Wheeljack and Ratchet repair the ship while has out cold.”
It took Yuri a moment to realize Zeke was being sarcastic, and he laughed a little.
“Yuri, he’s alright. I think he’s just a bit freak out about having giant robots helping us out and everything…if your really worried about him, why don’t you go talk to him?”
Yuri hesitated,
“Talk to him? But he’ll just tell me to get lost, wont he?”
Zeke laughed, shaking his head.
“I highly doubt that. In fact, I think he would enjoy your company Yuri.”
Zeke walked past her, leaving that last sentence in the air. Yuri turned, watching him walk away, and she felt a faint blush come onto her face.
Haku closed his eyes, hitting his head against the metal of the Gummi Ship in frustration. He was exhausted, and his stomach was growling angrily. He sat on what remained of the ship’s left wing, trying to repair the hole in the side of his ship…but his eyes kept closing on him, and his weakened state was taking a toll on him.
Haku swayed, but rebalanced and shook his head, trying to push back the sleep that was dragging him.
He pulled at his hair, forcing himself to stay awake before continuing his repairs on the ship. Before he knew it, he was slowly swaying, and fell back onto the wing as he fell asleep.
Haku awoke as he heard the sound of electricity spark followed by several curse words. He narrowed his blue eyes as he sat up, wondering who the hell had woke-
His eyes widened.
“Crap! I fell asleep!”
Haku yelled at himself, smacking his forehead. He suddenly felt the presence of another and turned. He tensed, quickly bringing himself to his feet and stepping back against the ship. Wheeljack stared, and then waved a hand nervously.
“Oh, hey there kid.”
He said, rubbing his hurt hand. Haku glanced from Wheeljack, then to the ship.
“You touched my ship!”
He snapped, stepping forward. Haku couldn’t really read the expression on the ‘bots face, especially with the strange mask he wore that covered the entire bottom half. From what he could tell…the bot was smiling.
“That’s a beautiful ship you got there kid. Your little girlfriend told me you built it yourself – is that true?”
Haku narrowed his eyes, seeing that Wheeljack was trying to change the topic.
“She’s not my girlfriend, but yeah, I built this ship.”
He said, crossing his arms. Wheeljack stepped forward, and Haku stepped back. The mechanic stopped, then gave a small laugh.
“Kid, care if I show you a few things?”
He asked.
Yuri sighed, and Bumblebee looked over at her.
“Are you alright? You’ve done that quite a few times in the past hour.”
He said. She looked up from her position against the wall at the yellow bot.
“I’m fine.”
She lied. Truth was she was bored. She didn’t want to bug Haku, and Zeke was off exploring the ship with Sam…
A slight movement made her turn as Bumblebee came up to her,
“Yuri, come with me.”
He said. Yuri raised a brow, obviously clueless.
“Wha? Why?”
“Just come with me.”
He repeated. He walked past her, and Yuri stood and followed him, still wondering where he wanted her to go.
Haku was squatted up on top of the Gummi Ship; a panel open in front of him as he repaired some of the main wires.
“Hey Jack, do you have anything useful for reattaching wires? These ones up here are a bit jolted…”
He said. Wheeljack looked up from the repairs on the side of the Gummi Ship, nodding,
“Yeah…yeah! I do, hang on kid.”
He said as he got up and walked over to a large metal counter across the room. Wheeljack returned shortly, putting the tool down beside Haku. It was a bit large, but Haku didn’t have any trouble using it.
“Thanks.”
“No prob.”
Haku lowered the tool into the panel, positioning it onto the wires as he started melding the torn wires back together.
The sound of a sliding door caught his attention, and he heard footsteps. Haku turned, slightly surprised to see Yuri and Bumblebee walk in. He tensed slightly at the sight of Bumblebee, but focused on Yuri.
“Yuri, what’s up?”
Haku asked. Yuri smiled a little, craning her neck to look up at him,
“Nothing really. Just worried about you.”
She said truthfully. Haku raised a brow,
“What? I’m fine, just busy.”
He said. Wheeljack sat up,
“Hey Haku, some of the engine was damaged. Do you want to repair it, or just replace it?”
Haku paused in though,
“Replace it. It was probably on its last leg anyway.”
He turned back to Yuri and thought he saw a smile on her face, though it was hard to tell from this distance.
“Are you smiling?”
He asked. Yuri nodded, and Haku asked,
“Why?”
“Nothing really. I’m just glad to see you’re getting along with our new friends.”
Haku narrowed his eyes,
“I still don’t like them, that’s that. But Jack here isn’t half bad.”
Yuri just continued smiling, her and Bumblebee watching Wheeljack and Haku work together to repair the Gummi Ship.
