The Day Reborn
The bells strike at first light,
And the sun smiles and sparkles
At the skyscrapers of the city.
The cat and dog begin their fight.
The sound starts again,
The sound of cars, trains, and bikes
The sound of children choking
On fumes. In pain.
The trees wave their leaves,
Taking in the fumes
And giving back to the city clean air.
As if a natural pattern. It weaves.
The flower opens its petal.
The child begins her path to school.
The businessman awakens his old car,
And the sound of churning metal.
The birds soar and run.
Their wings beat softly,
As if fanning the giant orange.
Their chirping welcomes the sun.
