I learned this the hard way, so i hope it can be of help to those who may end up reading this. If you plan to buy a computer or have bought one recently, there is a VERY important proceedure you NEED to do before getting started customizing and what not on it. What you need to do is run a full system restore using the restore disk given to you when you purchased your computer. Why? Computer companies don't say this....but there is a good chance that your restore disk are defective. So when there comes a time when you need to run a full system restore, you wont be stuck with a computer with a non-working operating system.
I am telling you this because i recently was forced to run a full sytem restore only to find my restore disk do not work properly. Valuable information needed to run the computer properly was missing on the disk. Causing my computer to lock up and otherwise not work. Since my computer is a slightly older model (2004) it is no longer under warranty and my restore disk are no longer supplied at the manufacturer. So in order to get my computer up and running i was forced to use my sisters restore disk. This is recommended for only those who know what they are doing or knows someone who knows what so do. In essence, my compter is my like my sisters now. But i had to install the drivers necessary for my compter to work properly.
To get it working as i do now has required over 72 hours of work. All of which could have been avoided if the restore disk i got with the computer worked properly. So, my fellow Gaians, i urge to find if your disk work. You will save youself a lot of head aches and hard work.
