Patrick is an obese, pink, friendly, well-meaning but really stupid (though he did attend a community college) sea star with good intentions. Starfish are said to have no brains, yet in one episode he accidentally placed brain coral on his head instead of his real brains after a fall off a cliff, and Patrick lives up to that image, as his head has been seen deflating. However, SpongeBob himself frequently attests to the "genius" of Patrick's harebrained ideas.
