HORRAY FOR COMIC/ANIME CONVENTIONS!
June 23 (Saturday) I went to Fort Lauderdale to go to Florida Supercon. My brother was selling his comic in association with a local comic book company from Tampa, Read More Comics; so this is the real reason I went. However, being an anime fanatic as it is, I had a blast. I brought along my best friend, Sarah, and we spent the afternoon running around taking pictures of people and spending our money on art, comics, and anime merchandise.
So, here is my documented experience:
This guy was standing around in the lobby...so...we took his picture! Sarah is the one standing next to him.
I almost tripped over this lady's kimono...
Sarah and some hunky storm troopers. The thing with these storm troopers, though, is that the people in these costumes are part of a country-wide organization of Star Wars fans that get together and go to conventions like this, dressed up as storm troopers. They're so hardcore. I do believe they're called the 301st Division of something or another...regardless, they're uber nerds, and we love them all the more for it. And, when Sarah was standing by them, waiting for me to take the picture she said, "Me and my two hunky storm troopers." And, to which, one of them replied, "That's right...well, one." Haha!
We weren't quite sure what purpose these served...but we decided to get a picture anyway. I later learned they have some relevance to Halo...muh bad. One of them is still pink, though! xd Sexy...
Then, of course, we took pictures with anyone who, at least, made a decent attempt to cosplay:
OMG, it's me! (in the middle)
We kept following around this really tall, black guy around dressed up as a dog/kitty...we're not sure WHO he was cosplaying as (if someone knows, please tell me)...so we took his picture, because he looked hardcore.
Then we ended up following Link and Zelda down the stairs:
When we ran out of cosplayers to take pictures of (because we could've cared less for the pre-teens running around as various Naruto characters), we ended up with a lot of...other pictures.
Like this one:
We thought that this security guy was pretty hardcore, but he wasn't allowed to take pictures with anyone. crying So we got this picture instead, without him knowing. 3nodding
This kid was giving out free hugs & glomps...so, we glomped him and then took his picture without him knowing...obviously. (We're so sneaky with our camera skills)
OKay, so Sarah and I thought that this guy was extremely cute when we saw him...and we ended up following him around by complete chance (no matter where we went, HE WAS THERE!!) So, I'm sure it seemed like we were stalking him...and we weren't discreet about it, either. We kept giggling and chattering nervously. We eventually bucked up the courage to ask to take his picture, just because we thought he was attractive. He went along with it! Although, at the time of taking this picture, he was eating some weird Japanese chips, and he was in mid-chew when I snapped this. That's why he kind of had a weird expression. confused But it doesn't distract from his good looks! We kept running into him though, and when we were following him down the hallway, we took the opportunity to get a picture of his butt...just because:
We found this guy, also:
A fellow Gaian! (easy to spot, since he was wearing an OMG. domokun )
Then, we had to go eat lunch. But the only restaurant nearby was Hooters. stare
And that basically sums up the general feeling.
We spent a couple more hours hanging around, and then we finally left to drive home. In the car ride back, though, we still had plenty of amusement.
Let me being by introducing you to this guy:
This is Stickman, a little dude made out of twisty-ties that we stole from my friend, Ben. And this,
is is first experience out in the real world.
However, Stickman always practices safety first, even when riding in the car:
Good for you, Stickman!
But all this partying at Florida Supercon can leave a little metal guy feeling a little weary. So, Stickman loves to re-energize with a light snack.
Sometimes, though, he goes a little overboard:
Oh, Stickman!
But he had a good experience at Florida Supercon. He met some new people:
This is a print that I bought from a chick that goes by Miss Kika. This piece is called Bubblegum Geisha. I thought it was so adorable!
Anyway, stickman also walked away with a souvenir or two:
And, thus concludes my documented experience at Florida Supercon 2007. Stay tuned for future, fully documented con reports!
And, now, I'd like to leave you with this parting shot:
